Is anyone worried in the least about Tom Brady's health...

behind our current O line? Matt Light (although decent in commercials) scares the heck out of me quite often. His "turnstile" weakness, as well as that of Kaczur and even Mankins occasionally doesn't make me all that confident in Tom's health for the upcoming season. My question is: How confident are you in the current OL ability to keep Brady "safe and healthy" back there this year?? thx

Unless the injury caused Brady to lose his pocket prescense and his quick release, I am not that worried.

I also don't think the line is nearly as bad as you suggested. Light is one year removed from a Pro Bowl season and his trouble with speed DEs has been overstated for years (although it is a problem at times). Mankins is also one year removed from a Pro Bowl season.

Well, we thought we were doing OK, but then you came along and pointed out our inadequacies. Thanks for the illumination!

oh crap PJ, im tearing up im laughin so hard. You're on a roll this week!

Thanks man! I've had a weird combo of stress, head cold and drinking going on. It's doing wonders for me

Since when did Matt Light become Grant "The Turnstile" Williams? Light has always had issues with the best pass rushing DEs and OLBs. Guys like Porter, Freeney, and Taylor. That being said, in 2007, Light was just amazing up until the Giants game and the SB.

Kaczur is better than we give him credit for, though I wouldn't mind adding a RT who would make Kaczur our top Swing tackle. Even I have been overlly critical of Kaczur at times.

Mankins finally had his sophmore slump. Yes, I know, it was during his 4th year. But up until that, he'd been playing at a near All-Pro level. I hope we see a return to that level of performance by Mankins.

Koppen seemed to be over-compensating until Neal got back. It was clear that he was trying to make sure the RG position wasn't beaten, but , by doing so, his focus was off and he was getting beaten himself. Once Neal got back, the line solidified. And actually got stronger with the play of Mark LeVoir.

Neal is the only achilles heal on the line right now. His shoulders are about shot, unfortunately. He's missed a lot of time because of shoulder injuries during his career.

This site is such an effin' homer fest. "DA SKY IS FALLING!!1!" "If the o-line was a problem then BB WOULD HAVE ADDRESSED IT!!11!!". How can you people discuss football if you're going to post replies like that.

Yes Rich, I'm a homer. I'm proud to be a homer.

Now what was it you wanted to discuss?

I would expect to see the Patriots draft a OL or 2. Even if the OL is good it always can be improved and depth be added. But, I'm not woriied about the OL protecting Brady. Last years injury was not due to the OL. Sammy Morris did not pick up the Safety (Pollard) and block him properly so he couldn't cheap shot tom's knee.

That is just one homers opinion.

10 posts since 2005... It's not as if you've been discussing much football here.

Actually, i think Sammy having him on the ground, pinned, was a good block. He let up, probably thinking that Tom would get rid of the ball sometime that day. I really feel that towards the end of 07, tommy developed a bad habit of holding the ball too long, waiting for moss, and the 80 yard TD. If Tom gets rid of that ball quiker, like he did in previous years, he might not have taken that shot to the knee....woulda coulda shoulda. On to 09

and im a homer too NUT

2007 we only allowed 21 sacks and really very few pressures outside of the Giants games (who, by the way, were far and away the sack leaders in the NFL).

2008 the numbers jumped, because we had a QB who hadn't started since high school, trying to get used to reading real live NFL speed, while trying to make fans forget that they just lost the MVP of the league. What did we give up, 47 sacks? And how many of those were in the first 8-10 games of the season? My guess would be we gave up 35 in the first 10 and only 12 in the last six, without looking at the stats.

As was said, we'll draft one or two for depth and competition. But if we go into 2009 with what we've got, I'm not worried about it at all.
