Let me add to the legend of Darius Butler:

43" vertical, 11'2" broad jump.

Second to Washington.

Butler has shown that he is very athletic, but not the speediest CB out there, but he has good hands as well.

I'm imagining that the knock on Butler will be a concern with his technique and that sometimes he loses the wide receiver out there (probably because he comes up so often in run support). I've also heard his scouts knocking his size and tackling. From watching Butler, I can tell you he likes to mix it up and get dirty. He is not afraid.

Positives: athleticism, leaping ability, great hands, flexibility, tackling

Negatives: technique, awareness

I'm liking Sean Smith or Delmas at 23 right now, and possibly still Alphonso Smith. Need to see how the Smiths look in the drills and how all 3 do in the 3-cone.

I'd be fine with either guy at 23, though I think I'd prefer Delmas there. What would be ideal is if the Patriots could move Cassel for the #20 and maybe a swap of second rounders, that the Patriots could grab a tackle at 20 and go after someone like Barwin in the high second rather than going for him at 23.

With 20, 23, 33 and 58 we could presumably get somelike like the following:

20 William Beatty OT
23 Sean Smith, Louis Delmas, or Alphonso Smith DB
33 Connor Barwin, LB
58 Jarron Gilbert, DE; or possibly trade up for Darius Butler, CB if we go with a S at 23

I figured him for a hybrid S/CB, leaning more towards safety.

That's a more realistic assessment, but I still want to see how his change of direction stacks up with Delmas and the other S prospects.

Sean Smith 4.50 2nd run. He has 35" arms to go with his 6'3 1/2" height.

If we traded Cassel to KC for #34 + a 2010 pick (preferably a 1st), we could go something like the following:

23 Alphonso Smith CB
34 Sean Smith or Louis Delmas S (possibly flip the CB and S picks at 23 and 34 depending on how people grade out)
47 Connor Barwin LB (possibly with a trade up)
58 Jarron Gilbert DE, or possibly an OL

A lot of nice scenarios to think about.

I believe I already said that I want to see the 2 Smith's in the drills and how Smith, Smith and Delmas compare in the 3-cone and short shuttle. I'm not anointing him, but he's done nothing so far to discourage interest.

BOR, your guy Chip Vaughn running 4.44 and 4.40 at 6'1" 221# looks awfully good as a mid-round SS prospect. Have to see how he does in the drills and with his agility, obviously, but tremendous size/speed prospect.
