He said he will play into 45 and play well for those years. I don't doubt he can back it up.

Howeve I do have concerns about the OL.

If the OL doesn't show improvement this year (particularly the young players) I look to do something drastic. High priced FAs if need be even at guard and center.

I think he will have one more year (next season) as elite level QB. Hold on, let me explain myself.

This past Super Bowl winning season was very much a personal mission for Brady to go out and win a fifth championship and he did it. He felt he was wronged by the league and the deflategate investigation and we all agree he was. Brady taped a freaking commercial in September about winning his fifth ring.

Next season the Patriots start out as favourites for another championship and we could go on and win the Super Bowl again in sequential seasons.

So go another 12 months after that and we get to September 2018 will Brady still be elite? Who knows? He will still be among the best at pre-snap reads and his study of formations will continue to lead the league but in 18 months time how much has his body slowed down?

We all want Brady to go on forever but the laws of being human just won't allow it. I could see Brady continuing at a very high level for more seasons if we had a premier RB which took a lot of the pressure off Brady.

I have to wonder how much more motivation Brady will have going into next season. Yes, he continues to play for the love of the game and Brady will always want to compete, he is the ultimate competitor. But with Giselle wanting him to retire already and as his family gets older I wonder after next season whether Brady considers returning in September 2019 which I think is 28 months from now. Just trying to be realistic.

I think 2 more good years then 1 not so good year. He sees the writing on the wall and retires.

I think Brady is good enough to carry the team for 2 more years.. After that he might need some help. It all depends on his arm strength and staying healthy. How does his body bounce back after getting hit and knocked down 15 times in a game.

I don't think anyone knows, if he plays all pro level at age 42, I am pretty sure that has never been done before.

Giselle: GOAT can you believe this ****? Your own fans are making book on when you hang em up!
TFB: Really. Muthafvckers.
Giselle: See what I mean? You really should just come home to me. Don't I have everything you need?
TFB: Jizzy you know you got EVERYTHING I need...get over here!
<<<Seven hours later>>>
TFB: How long did they say anyways?

Hmmmm good question, honestly I thought last year he was throwing straight up missiles. This year I thought I saw some decreased zip. I thought it was pretty noticeable. Arm strength is overrated anyway, His is certainly still more than adequate. And obviously he is super accurate. I think he can give us 3 more years.
Maybe, maybe not. I saw a zinger over the middle to a very tightly covered Edelman in overtime on 2nd and long for a first down. This was just two plays after he threw a deep comeback to Hogan where the ball arrived a fraction before the defender's hand from the opposite hash. The defender had tight coverage the whole play. Can he do that consistently might be the question. Also, his deep ball accuracy seemed to actually be better in 2016. I guess only time will tell. The man has played the equivalent of two regular seasons in playoff football.

Maybe Bill should sit him the first four games of each of his remaining years. He showed he could sit a quarter of the season and still contend for league MVP.

You did not include Zero as an option. This past season was not elite, although certain periods within games overcame other periods of abysmal play. Brady has had periods of obvious deteriorating play, in many games. Steady play used to be his claim to fame No more.

They won in spite of them. Even this Super bowl showed declines despite being his ultimate triumph and best. Period four and overtime superb performance, overcame abysmal play in 1st, 2nd, and most of the 3rd quarter.

We can expect the decline to continue that was noticeable this year. (If you care to look and view it clinically).

Yeah, Brady sucked this year. Look at his numbers from the first 4 games, zero TDs, zero QB rating. Total decline.

I'm hoping for five but expect four. If Garrapolo goes to Cleveland he has essentially been sentenced to failure and they draft his replacement in three years and the Patriots pick him back up in 2020 as Brady's eventual replacement. And if that doesn't work he can take a page from Blount and get caught getting baked with a young QB , Browns release him and he returns to NE as Brady's eventual replacement.

EDIT:

I know this has been discussed in many threads where his greatness was touched upon, but I wanted one definitive thread (if there isn't already one that I simply missed) to get everyone's realistic feeling on how many more years the GOAT has at ELITE-level. Whatever drop there's been has been so miniscule as to seemingly be non-existent at this point. We just witnessed probably the greatest and most career/player defining game in history last Sunday on the grandest sports stage. And we've heard reports that he is still very much adamant about at least five more, much to the chagrin of Mrs. Brady.

But we all know Father Time is undefeated. We have seen, as improbable as it seems as it relates to the GOAT, that players can go from tops to rapid decline in seemingly an instant. So, I'm curious to know what your opinion is... How many more ELITE years do you think Brady has left? When do you think we see the inevitable and he is forced to finally call it a career?

He is already GOAT and Epic. If he really wants to keep playing than I am rooting for him to have Epic longevity as well. Why not be the exception to everything.. He already basically is our "Steve Young" of the Pats, because he has already won the 5th ring, and has played as long as Montana plus Young's (Young's career to the one SB win). Brady is the second QB in our dynasty compared to theirs. If he plays 20 years, that puts him roughly to the same time 49ers got out of BOTH Montana and Young. (And he already has the same amount of rings as both of them) Let him win more.
EDIT: Brady is his own "heir".

>>This past season was not elite

LOL. Is this a serious post? If so you are ridiculous. This was an MVP type year, and near the best of his entire career.

It's called a Quarter Jack ***

I thought Brady was better this year than last and maybe even 2014. Movement in the pocket was better, deep ball was better, TD/INT better, passer rating better. Still has good zip on the ball - see the out to Amendola and the sideline comeback to Hogan in the SB. I thought Hogan really came on at the end - much more consistent and varied production. He and Mitchell, with Gronk back - could make the receiving corps even better next year. The OL is young and improving. I still would like to see more of a run game - save Brady some hits.
2016 was EASILY Brady's best season of his 5 Super Bowl winning years. It is likely his third or fourth best season of his entire career if not higher.

All this Goat talk makes me want some curry.

From tidbits that Zo and Curran have dropped.. the 2019 season keeps coming up for both Brady and BB.

I'm not suggesting he will become a couch potato I'm saying he won't want to dedicate every waking moment to football and miss his kids lives because he is still playing football. Brady will be running TB12 and living off of his Brand, just as Giselle does hers, but he will have the freedom to enjoy many of the things he sacrifices to be the GOAT.
The family argument is not totally valid in my opinion. In all honesty and NFL QB has to work, but all father's work, many 50 or 60 hours a week all year or even more. And you don't "retire" when your kids are 9 or 10, its more like when they are 30 or 40. In all honesty he probably sees his family a lot more than many do. And has a lot more freedom to take them to Disney Land, or vacations, etc.

Most parents haven't fulfilled their careers by 45 years old , and they don't have the resources to retire. Brady will still work full time after he leaves football but his dedication to football goes well beyond a 40-50 hour work week and it essentially consumes his time. Everyone can obviously believe whatever they want but imo Brady will retire at 44-45 so he can spend more time with his family.

3-5 years. Elite for 2 more.
