I wonder if he could get reps here?
I wouldn't trade Thuney straight-up for Gallup either...But if Dallas offers Gallup AND their 2nd-rounder for him, then you absolutely have to strongly consider it...J.R. Redmond put the Patriots in a position to kick the game winning field goal twice in the playoffs in 2001, once against Raiders and again vs the Rams in the Super Bowl. It didn't make him a great or even good player.
Gallup is a "good" player at best. I'm not trading 2nd team All Pro Joe Thuney for an okay WR. They can do a lot better than that.
Nor do I see WR as a huge position of need. If they could vastly improve the position with Julio Jones is one thing, simply adding another body to the team that passes the least in the NFL... why?
Get a TE, get a dominating DT... there are bigger positions of need and places with more room for improvement.
Shaq sucks also.... do you play any other notes?Mason's contract is Not reasonable.
The young WR's they currently have need to continue to improve, as does the level of passing at QB.I wouldn't trade Thuney straight-up for Gallup either...But if Dallas offers Gallup AND their 2nd-rounder for him, then you absolutely have to strongly consider it...
I also agree about our needs at TE & DT...But to not see WR as a huge position of need is just not logical.

Mason's new money for 2021 is $7M, abut the same for 2021 and 2022.Mason's contract is Not reasonable.
I'm not looking at his 2021 new money, I'm looking at his 2021 cap hit of $9.775M...If released we save $3.85M...Mason's new money for 2021 is $7M, abut the same for 2021 and 2022.
I understand that GM Stone would cut Mason. Mason would be fine with that. He can easily get another contract for $7M a year. He is a solid starter. He is unlikely to asked to take a pay cut, and he would be even more unlikely to take one.
We have Thuney, Eluemunor and Andrews in their contract year. And you focus on getting rid of Mason and Cannon. ???
We need to make decisions about these three before free agency.
The 2021 issue isn't cap money.
I agree 100%. Where we disagree is whether we should cut a solid OG to save $3M.I'm not looking at his 2021 new money, I'm looking at his 2021 cap hit of $9.775M...If released we save $3.85M...
Generally I wouldn't, but that will depend on what next off-season looks like...If Cannon retires as rumored, then his savings alone might allow us to keep both Mason & Thuney...I agree 100%. Where we disagree is whether we should cut a solid OG to save $3M.
We already have a contract with Mason.Generally I wouldn't, but that will depend on what next off-season looks like...If Cannon retires as rumored, then his savings alone might allow us to keep both Mason & Thuney...
Or we could have drafted Metcalf, Brown, McLaurin, or Slayton over Harry
No, but between the savings from a retired Cannon and the subsequent less-radical restructuring of Mason's contract, Thuney's re-signing here isn't the seeming impossibility that it is being made out to be...But if it takes the jettisoning of both Mason & Cannon to keep Thuney here, then so be it...Big Mike can then slide into the starting RG spot if necessary, and Elu is already starting at RT.We already have a contract with Mason.
So, you're suggesting that Thuney would sign for what Cannon costs?
A.J. Green to Pats? Bengals WR appears to want out of Cincy
Veteran wideout A.J. Green seems to want to be traded out of Cincinnati. Could the Patriots be suitors?www.nbcsports.com

A.J. Green has not had a great 2020 season up to this point.itsgame7.com
Green is not going anywhere unless he gets cut (which the Bengals have no reason to do). He is playing on a 17.9M franchise tag. Even traded at the deadline that would still be a price tag of about 10M for 10 games.
