Would you trade Thuney to improve WR/TE?

I don’t think they’ll extend Thuney. So, I think this is his last year here. I’d still want them to keep him. He is versatile, tough, productive, always available.

I wish there was a way to keep him, but I think the $ will be prohibitive. And, sadly, despite the value WE see, I am not sure other teams would offer that much.

I would and hope that what we have seen out of Owenu isn't a fluke. Cant imagine we would get a ton for him considering his price tag and the fact he will be needing to be paid.

He's 350 pounds and can get out wide on a pull and crush people. He's no fluke, at all. You don't suddenly forget how to do that.

I still wouldn't trade Thuney. Still hoping Froholdt comes along, but Thuney is special and you keep him. I'd trade Mason before Thuney, if there's any way I could work out a Thuney deal, and I love Mason.

TE, yes. WR, no. Dont trust the ability of this front office to make good decisions with WRs. Or for whatever reason, none of them except the most talented in the league (AB) seem to work out.

Byrd is very serviceable. Harry is really coming on and making up for lost time. Edelman had a rough game, but he is still apt to make more big positive plays than bad plays.

BB is going to wait for Gunner and Keane and all the passing game pieces to function together before making a move on a WR. If/when he does, it will be an obscure deal that nobody saw coming and it wont involve Thuney.

The 2020 Pats strength is in its run game and losing Thuney would effect it.

The problem is Shaq Mason's contract. I don't think it's smart to pay two guards starter money when it's one of the most replaceable positions in the game.

I would think about moving Shaq's contract instead. While Shaq hasn't been elite, he's still a good offensive guard.

Bacon, do you really think the Cowboys could find a taker for Coopers contract? I think he singed a 5 year deal earlier this year for about a 100 mil.
Chances are slim and I'm just throwing this out there based on my opinion. I don't think Dallas would mind too much either. I just think Gallup is that good. A few team could afford it (Miami, Phila, Jax) with a little creativity but it's a long shot.

As much as I like Gallup I'd say no with slight hesitation. I can see us considering it bc of the difficulties finding a WR through the draft. Gallup is proven & looks like a good fit here.

I'd be curious to see how Dallas value Gallup & Cooper. Cooper might be better in a few areas but I think Gallup might be more complete. Interested how they see each.

No. Unless BB thinks he cant sign him.
But Belichick needs to seriously negotiate before he gives up.
In todays nfl, qb is the most important position. 2nd is the oline, although you could make a case for a tie with the secondary.
But a great ol player, regardless of position, is more important than any great dl player.
Guys like Thuney dont grow on trees. We're not talking about rbs or wrs, who are all a dime a dozen. Maybe a great te but there's not a great te in the nfl right now. Some really good ones, like Kittle. But no great ones.
I like Cam and he has a big impact. But the ol has a bigger impact. We have a really good one and it's young. Emphasize young.
Whatever young qb takes over for Cam,whether thats 2021 or years down the road, a talented ol will help his progress more than a bunch of allpro wrs. So no, you do your very best. to keep the young core of this ol intact. And Thuney is the most important cog.
Look at last year. Pats had a weak wr corps and no tes. But those werent the biggest problems. The ol was devastated with injuries. If Brady were here now, hed be having a MUCH better year than last year, even w/o a ton of weapons. ( 2nd half of season after losing all the weapons).
Damn, thats a long answer.

An amazing OL player helps WR's and QB's more than an amazing WR can help mask a bad OL.

Half the reason 2007 was possible was because that O-Line just... It was incredible. I watched some highlights the other day and was amazed at the time Brady had to let Moss's routes develop.

Absolutely.

There is no way - No Feckin Way - that I would allow the albatrosses of Mason's & Cannon's contracts to interfere with my ability to keep Thuney where he belongs...which is right here. And if that means trading or sh!t-canning Mason or Cannon, or both, then so be it.

Nope, because I'm not a part-time fan and I understand the incredible value of having an OL of his caliber and flexibility on our team even if it means not getting a ton of fantasy football points.

You would be lucky to get a third rd pick for Thuney, you can not be extended Him.

he is playing on the franchise tag, which means he is making a little less than a million a game.

the Pats would have to get something better than the third rd. comp pick they will get if he leaves after the season via free agency.

it’s just not going to happen.

Thank you. I think you hit the nail on the head regarding the Cowboys being OK getting out from under it, if they could?

Gallup is an example of total fan dissonance and cluelessness. Gallup is a good not great talent playing in a very favorable situation, Thuney is a great talent. I'd trade Thuney for an impact DT, that's something we could use. Can Watt push his way out of Houston. I'd trade Thuney for an impact TE, that's something we could use. Gallup... overrated.
