Wolf has made worse GM decisions than post Brady BB

To be fair to Wolf, even if he's picked good prospects, without good coaching the prospects aren't going to develop into good players.

Maye obviously is an outlier.

An overlooked aspect about BB's drafts was that there were always late round picks who develop into solid contributors especially at the height of the dynasty. You gotta give credit to the staff for developing those players. More than anything, BB's staff getting poached all over the place and leaving him with a skeleton staff at the end of his run was as much of his demise as the bad draft picks.

All that to say that while some of this past year's draft picks haven't turned out well outside of Maye, I still think with good coaching some of these guys can be contributors.

Polk coming out of college didn't have issues with his hands and his strengths actually was that you could throw the ball around him and he would go get the ball.

His scouting report -

— Excellent ball tracking skills and catch radius.
— Great hands. Consistent catching technique with strong, reliable grip.
— Above-average play strength and physicality.
— Above-average burst and twitch for his size. Helps generate YAC.

We see none of this now.
Everyone, including me, has been so focused on worrying about Maye developing bad habits if he started too soon. Polk's regression highlights that there is damage caused by not having an offense that allowed rookies to be successful. This point does not let Polk off the hook, he needs to perform to his abilities if he wants a job in the NFL.

Wolf tried to get cute moving down from pick #34 to pick #37 (plus a 6th rounder) and ends up passing on McConkey (58 receptions / 815 yards) and picked Polk (12 receptions / 150 yards) along with Baker (who makes Deon Sanders look “shy”) and eho by the way we still await his first reception. The O-Line pickups (all of them) are not even “JAG” worthy. I just don't see this guy as the talent appraiser and team builder we need even with the extra picks and God knows how much “cash to burn ”. If he duplicates the same draft (except for Maye - he was going to pick the last of those 3 QB’s) and free agency signings as last year, it’s going to set us back another 3 years (if we’re lucky)….

Baker is a BUM. Welcome to the Josh Boyce and Taylor Price club!!!!

FIRE our WR scouts

The only way a player will sign with the Patriots is if they offer the most money. Bob Kraft
will only approve deals that are below average money.

Now there's a Catch-22 for ya.

They were at rock bottom last year because of Jonathan and Wolfs collaboration, now we’re stuck there because of that same collaboration.

The roster and execution are getting worse, not better. We’re officially the Patsies again…. back to the 1980’s.

Last years team was run by Bill Belichick. Wolf was under him and Groh, but keep on making **** up.

And the two OL you wanted in the second are benchwarmers, with Paul 2nd string and Suamataia listed at 3rd string.

And they are still far better than the players we are playing at those spots and the guy we drafted.

Bill’s boy Mac Jones is doing amazing in Jacksonville isn’t he.

Shame on Kraft for not paying a WR $15M for his 2024 services. No matter what is the money is used for in 2025, we will get SOME value. Paying for 2024 service would have been worse than useless. Instead, the team evaluated the WR's and got them some important reps. We got good news on Douglas and Boutte. We got bad news on Thornton, Polk and Baker.

More like doing his part to get another coach fired.

In other words, football seasons are for "important reps"(these days in NE), not wins, and NE season ticket holders bought 8 weekend training camp experiences at convenient Gillette.

Robert Kraft in his post season message to season ticket holders: "The team got in some important reps this fall, thanks for your $2k. See you next year"

Well fellow Patriots fans for the 2024 season we are sinking fast. Most of the pretenders jump ship and are gone and the last few aboard now will watch the bow sink into the water with the final 4 games left. It's been an honor wearing my Patriots hat and shirt all season in Florida. The past glorious wins are just a memory. These new battles where painful to endure and my hopes to be able to reorganize our troops are dwindling with current management in 2024 as constructed. All I can do is commiserate with fellow fans. Man if we could just win a couple of games in December... pipedream . Rant over.

Aiyuk was offered the most money by the Pats, but he rejected their offer. I'm sure glad he did.

You wanted the team to spend $30M to get a couple of extra wins this year. I would use the $30M to win a couple of extra games next year. In addition to having the extra money next year instead of this, the team will also have better draft picks.

I understand that you don't like this strategy. I do. The team figures to be better in 2025, 2026 and 2027 by having $30M extra money and better draft picks available in 2025.
========
Let's be clear. The team played as hard as they were able in order to win with the players that Wolf provided, as they will next year when

we will have $30M extra to spend IN ADDITION to the $110M we already had to spend. And we will have a #1-#5 draft pick each round instead of the #6-#10. Yes, I understand that some of the money could be used in later years (perhaps $10M a year) and the better draft picks (especially the Round 1 pick) could be traded for more picks, perhaps in 2026.
============
In the end, decisions are made to better the team over time and make the team more likely to win a Super Bowl over time, and for the team to be worth more over time. Decisions are not made to make a big splash with a couple of extra wins in 2024.

Let's go a little deeper. Eliot wolf team results so far for 2024 is 3 And 10. They pay the general manager an estimated low of 1million and a high of 7.5 million. His job is to evaluate, submit players to the coach and help manage the cap. His sole job is to provide evaluations. I have listenend to Catch 22 with Evan and Alex. They evaluate statistically, know cap and is fully engaged in talking about the why's! I would fire Eliot and hire these 2 wiz kids and Make the Patriots great again!

How would getting a #1 WR to develop rapport alongside Maye, make Maye better and be in year 2 next year a waste?
Why do you assume we will spend next year. We are historically the lowest cash spending team in the NFL.
What was the good news on Douglass? 38 yards a game and runs the wrong routes to cause Ints?
What was the good news on Boutte? Playing 79% of the snaps he has averaged 2.3 catches for 30 yards a game. In the 9 he has played as the teams #1 WR he has 23/317 which is 43/599 over a full season. That is league worst level.
They are both part of the problem not part of the solution.
