With the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Patriots...

Giants know the Pats are taking Hunter. They’d won’t deal.
That would be a stronger argument if it weren't for the fact that the Pats could trade down to #3 and still get Hunter or whoever their top non-QB target ends up being.

You dangle the pick for sure but I don’t feel like we are going to get the kind of offers we had for maye in this draft. To pass up on hunter i think you need at least to stay in the top 5 this year, another 1st, and a 2nd.

Im not sure, it tennessee finishes #2 they might be taking hunter if hes there. its not a given you can trade down and still get hunter.

They can trade to any team that wants a qb. There are many

If the Pats will only go down to 3 because they want Hunter, it only motivates the Giants to deal if they only want Ward. If they want either Ward or Sanders, the Giants don’t deal.

If the Giants want Ward OR Sanders, that doesn’t matter.

If then Pats can still get Hunter at 3 and Giants value Sanders and Ward the same, the Giants won’t deal. The Giants can tell the Pats to talk to Vegas or whoever is at 3.

Your compensation seems about right. The issue is whether we can get #3, #4 or #5, a 2026 first and a 2nd this year.

With the first overall pick. we take no one. We trade down for so many picks. We draftnicks are dumb, but someone will offer an obscene number of picks. Who will be dumb enough to offer too much.
They're probably not going to get what the Bears did in the Bryce Young trade, unless a bidding war develops for some reason.

They can trade with other teams than the Giants.
The Giants will be motivated to trade because they have no idea who is trying to jump them for the first pick.
Many teams need a QB.

Hunter by no means is a deal breaker.

The Giants are currently at #3 (Tennessee is at #2). Tennessee will probably be looking for a QB themselves, so if things stay the way they are, there will be many teams looking to trade with New England.

We have over 131 mill in cap.
We have the QB
We have the #1 pick

That is enough to attract a real GM and HC who can use those resources and have us in the playoffs next year.
You’re gonna get playoff caliber LT, RT, G/C (depending what happens with Strange), WR1, WR 2, CB 2, DE, DT, LB, FS this off-season? And magically make the coaching staff/GM good cause it’s very unlikely they get fired after next weeks game.

We have the worst roster in the league. Rosters this bad don’t get made over in 1 offseason.

There will be a team that overvalues a QB and offers a good return for Pats. However, I’d only want to trade down a few spots.

I don't want ANY PART of Won't tackle/ loudmouth Deion
Deion Sanders Hall of Famer. All World talent. He's been a great developer of talent at the collegiate level as well.

If you can walk the walk, you've earned the right to do the talk.

I feel like Sanders remains in the college ranks for a bit. He's built a nice program in Colorado and is seen as a great mentor to get kids to the NFL level.

I don’t need “playoff caliber” (whatever that means) players at every position.

Our roster is equivalent to 8 teams we play next year. We have 131,000,000 on cap and a bonanza of draft picks, plus improved coaching if we get rid of the clearly unqualified guy.

We could add 10-15 average for their position or better in free agency and trades with resources we have. We could add in 1 season what it typically takes 3 to get.

If you want to make ths playoffs you should have a playoff caliber roster (higher end players). We have the worst roster in the league. We have money to spend, but we certainly aren’t a desired destination anymore, so we’ll be over paying to get the better players here. We couldn’t even land Ridley last year.

I want Mayo and Wolfe gone also, but it’s very unlikely to happen. This is a multi-year rebuild.

We need to pay what it takes. We have the QB.
We can add 10-15 average for their position or better players.
We have 8 games against trans who have won 3,4 or 5 games and none have a QB.

Why would it be more than 1 year to reach 10 wins with 8 slugs in the schedule and the ability to double or triple the number of effective players we have?

Because the slugs on our schedule already have more talent than us, and can also improve their teams. We got smoked by slugs like the Jaguars this year.

The other reason is even though we have money to spend, how many quality players are gonna hit free agency at the premium positions we need - WR 1 and 2, LT, RT, DE, DT. And on top of hitting FA decide to sign with the Patriots (bottom tier team, high tax state, etc..). It’s not as easy as making a list and checking off the names.

Why would they want to trade with us knowing we don’t need a qb
