Will Patriots make a run at Demaryius Thomas?

He's also talked trash directly to people before.
"We've faced safeties a helluva lot better than him before." - Belichick AT the post-game podium referring to Anthony Smith after his 2007 victory-guarantee

Patriots talk a lot of trash behind closed doors. I guarantee you they do. They don't get fired up for these games for no reason. Belichick wasn't even letting rookies talk to the media last week after Revis let slip that the Patriots had this one circled and wanted it bad.

Anyway, at least now Dark Helmet knows the hoodie speaks the truth.

I don't think we're imagining the same thing here. I don't think Belichick is going around telling players that "so and so" is overrated, or that "such and such" sucks. I can very easily imagine Belichick saying, very sarcastically, something along the lines of, "The experts, in case you were wondering, have all agreed that the Broncos are the greatest team in the history of the league, and you don't stand a chance."

We've seen him say that stuff before `behind closed doors.` I can just imagine his disdain for certain things is even more clear when there's no cameras present.

I really don't think Welker was that far off.

Fair enough. Your explanation does make sense when you break it down that way.

It still doesn't change my mind about Welker though. That's just my personal opinion. I appreciate what he did while here, but I think he's a ****y punk.

In some of those situations, he was simply responding to the opposition calling him/the team out, so I don't pay much attention to those times.

I would agree that I'm sure he has some motivational tactics that include firing the team up, but as I said--I think every coach is going to do that. I just didn't like the way that Welker went out of his way to try and portray things in a negative light, so that's my main point.

Well, the best revenge is to live well.
The Patriots are, after the Hernandez situation, the Welker situation, and the Gronk injuries, once again an absolute NFL juggernaut.

And Welker is wearing a big helmet and a few months away from being cut.

Welkers speech, to me, comes off sort of like something the leader of the evil army would say to get his troops pumped up. "they are coming to steal your women and children!! this has nothing to do with the fact that we invaded a bunch of countries and tried to wipe out an entire religious group, they want to steal all your stuff!!!!"

He won't be cut, he'll be an UFA.

HOU will come calling. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to play on that abomination of a football field.

I think D. Thomas gets tagged. I think they let Julius Thomas walk. The Pats would have no interest in Julius Thomas and they are not going to give up two firsts for D. Thomas.

I think Denver made the mistake to table contract discussions with both players until after the season. Now neither will be willing to sign a contract unless Denver overpay for them becasue they can get more in free agency.

make a run at Thomas??..uh...OK...but use a semi to make sure of the job. The Pats could also make a run at Welker...all they'd need for that is a little girl's tricycle.

Revis isn't a wide receiver.
Completey missed the point. BB doesn't have a blueprint of what he will and won't do and never has.

I imagine he has file cabinets full of blueprints.

If you think he wants to go after big name receivers, all things being equal, he has said the opposite. If you think an expensive wide receiver is in our top five needs, I disagree.

Julius Thomas reminds me of Jermichael Finley. He needs to score TDs to be valuable. Demaryius Thomas on the other hand, is a legitimate game changer.

The Broncos could plug Tamme in at TE and Manning would make it work. Manning needs an elite receiver to help make all the other positions work. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are going to be the two guys that move the Broncos O forward.

not what the way Brandon LaFell has been playing him and Edelman are a nice one two punch at WR with Gronk being the true Elite player of the bunch, I would like to see the pats go after a RB in FA or draft one if Stevan Ridley does not come back

1. I'm constantly amazed by fans who wet their pants at even the unlikeliest of WR scenarios. At least a couple times a week threads are started concerning this WR or thatt one. Forget about the fact that you already have the biggest difference maker receiver in the league. Forget about the fact that you already have your 4 top WR under contract for at least the next 2 years. Forget about the fact that despite the current success, the pass offense still has room to improve. Forget that the team is averaging over 40 points/game. for over a month. And if you forgot ALL those things, BB STILL wouldn't pay top dollar for a WR.

2. According to Miguel, after all the incentives are paid and our own FA's are signed, the Pats should have SOME money to play with in FA, but not that much. In all likelihood we will have enough to sign one moderate to high end FA, along with the usual cast of low end guys who may or may not prove useful. Or we may go with this year's strategy which is to sign 2 moderate contracts like LaFell and Browner. (BTW- I don't include the Revis deal since it essentially was a swapping out of what would have to be paid to Talib.)

3. Mike Iaputi would probably impact the overall offense more than any WR we could sign. Where is his thread?

4. Greg Hardy would be another good idea. An elite talent that would come at a discounted price if he's waived.

5. Great WR's don't win superbowls. , And when in those rare occasions they DO have an impact ,its the blue collar guys like guys like Deion Branch or Anquain Bolden.

6. As for DThomas, I think he's a great WR. I'd love to have him on my team. HOWEVER, IIRC his first couple of years weren't exactly gems. Give the cost to get him, not only in money but who we wouldn't have on the team, I'd rather hope that Aaron Dobsom can come back from this lost season and become the next DT.

But he does have a value he sets on each position. That's been widely reported by multiple people in the position to know.

What is your definition of a blueprint?

DT will wind up anywhere but Foxboro. BB does not value high-priced WR's. Ever.

Denver takes Patriot hand-me-downs.

Not the other way around.
