Wilfork or Talib...who do you pay after the season?

Wilfork. He's a HOF caliber player who has been leading this defense for years. He's far from done despite what many will say and they need to make sure he finishes his career in NE. Players like Wilfork can contribute significantly into their mid 30's and I expect about 4 more years out of him, and that means a 15-20 million $ deal.

Define far? He will turn 33 during next the 2014 season, he has 2-3 years and that’s if he suffers no serious injuries.

I would sign Talib long-term if we can. The alternative would have a much higher cap hit (the franchise tag). This presumes that Talib is healthy at the end of the season.

There are many choices for Wilfork, depending on where he is medically. As with Talib, a one year contract would require a much a higher cap hit than a long-term deal, Of course, we could offer a short term deal at a reduced salary. It is not as if the patriots wouldn't consider this approach.

Wes Welker all over again. The player who plays like a HOFer for the Patriots gets thrown under the bus and the shiny new toy gets all the polish.

This debate is really going to suck.

Vince Wilfork has earned north of $50 million in his career with the Patriots, your acting like he is out there getting shot at for free and how dare we not appreciate it. The fans of New England contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to this team on a yearly basis and that money has been used to pay Vince Wilfork enough money to take care of his family, his family’s family so do not act like there has been a lack of appreciate for Wilfork he has been more than appreciated he has become a multi-millionaire for playing a kids game. Ivan you worth more than $50 million, because I am not so if Wilfork is underappreciate for his career I must be really, REALLY underappreciated for mine.

Do you think if you were walking in the rain Wilfork would pull over and pick you up? Oh that’s Ivan the guy on the patsfans.com site who tells people to appreciate me more and sticks up for me walking down the street I better stop and pick him up…

There he is! I was worried about you I actually was considering opening a thread titled “Where is MG”.

You all good brother?

I think that Wilfork is appreciated by the team, probably more than anyone not named Tom.

Also, I suspect that Wilfork would be more likely to pick one of us in the rain than would most posters here.
