Something i think teams forget on going for 4th in the red zone is where you end up.

For instance going for 4th and 2 at the 6 yard line means If you make it you get 1st and goal from the 4th at worst... likely 3rd or better.

If you go for 4th and 2 from the 11/12th and run a play just to get the first down... now you get a 4th and goal at the 10/9/8. You take a huge risk for what is much less likely to get you a reward.

I think many OCs often lose site of down and distance when it comes to setting up the things near/in the red zone. You are SO MUCH MORE likely to score inside than outside the 5. It just because so much harder to get each yard. And yet time and again I see DCs not really properly set up their goal line opportunities. They are so hyper focused on getting that next first down they don't think about what comes after. Sometimes on 3rd down you can't avoid it. But when i see a played called to get exactly 2 yards when you need exactly 1.5 to put you first and goal at nearly the 10... I just lose my mind. You are setting yourself up for failure if you start from there.

This is something i notice no one every seems to talk about but in my mind it is so important.
i think tomlin was letting the fans call the play there giving them what they wanted.

God... just toss it deep to Collins 3 times and punt if you don't get a PI or catch. The Steelers are not marching across the field on you with 40 seconds left.

Good call. Houston must be watching this forum.

7/8 on 3rd downs and you only have 7 points, wtf

More so then that... I can just not see the left side of the OL playing that bad 2 weeks in a row no matter who they play.
The Texans have a better DL than the Chargers. If the left side can't block them on the first series, you bring help over. Vrabel is a defensive HC so he should be able to help prepare the Patriots for what they bring.

If that ball is caught the half ends... Stroud does not understand the situation AT ALL.

Pretty poor clock management.

One of Captain’s favorites Uncle Dugger in on that

Was punting the right call there? I know the ball is at the 50 yard line.. but with 13 seconds left... If you take 8 seconds to do a hail mary... or if they defend it too much an out for a first down and fail....

Do the Steelers really have enough time to do much? 5 seconds is 2 plays. They would need to get a chunk than a FG. At Pitt you need to be inside the 35 for sure this time of year.

I know it seems like punting is the obvious move but I wonder if given the time left if it REALLY was. I know Pitt can use a time out... but i wonder if they really have such a higher likelihood to score than you do.

The Pats chance of success vs Houston rests more w mcdaniels than with the players

Rodgers has been really bad since he left the Packers. Every time he drops back, he just doesn't want to throw the damn ball. 3,332 passing yards on the season is pathetic in today's game.

Play calling and Maye not trying to throw a ball with 4 defenders on him. If he can take a sack and not give Houston short fields the game can look a lot like last night's
