That is an absolute insane reason to not play him.
Not only that, they lied about it to the entire fan base. They were specifically asked and said it was not because of disciplinary reasons (both Bill & Fat Matt). This is bigger than it looks. There's going to be a ton of pissed off pats fans.

They hate their coach.

Sounds like all ******** to me

I imagine it went something like

(1) Butler practices poorly
(2) Patricia and Butler get into it
(3) Butler gets demoted to 3rd string CB
(4) Butler cries on the sideline
(5) BB/Patricia think Butler isn't mentally fit to play and so gets benched

The only part that doesn't make sense is why BB/Patricia didn't figure out at some point during the game that Butler couldn't possibly play any worse than the players on the field.

Interesting...Skip Bayless theorized that Bill was trying to get rid of Brady by benching Butler. Well, I guess it worked...

Say Belichick does leave - who's going to replace him? Hope it's not McD...@Dropkickflutie would have a heart attack.

McD or fat Matt, we're rioting.

What is the point of picking a fight with Butler over his poor practicing to the point that you bench him? WTH? How can that happen before the SB against an offense that ran RPOs and never punted. I can't believe Brady/Gronk came back at all for 2018.

He didn't violate a team rule. It wasn't disciplinary. Malcolm was not prepared to play at the level they needed so they didn't play him.

He was drained from the flu and couldn't get up for the game.

Bunk. He was dressed and had his helmet on and went in for a SPs play. He was ready to play on game day and Bill just left him on the sideline while Richards and Bademosi puked all over the field and Brady had one of the best games of his life.

Most of this stuff is either things we already knew or just fluffing up of crap people say in private to each other. Yeah I'm sure Kraft has bad-mouthed Bill to his buddies several times over the past >20 years. I've been with my wife for over a decade, I love her to death but I've definitely said a negative thing or two in confidence to a friend at times. It happens. We knew Brady wanted out in 2017 after the Eagles SB, it's not news. The Butler stuff is still weird, I honestly just can't spare another thought over it because everyone involved is so iron-lipped about it. Butler is retired so you'd think he would've said something by now if it was seriously as simple as "I **** talked Matt Patricia."

It was too late to deactivate him.

Malcolm admitted he was not ready. He SAID it.

No he is not, but someone like Daboll would be interesting. And weaken a division rival.
I have no interest in Daboll.

Bayless is a complete clown. Those guys are paid actors.

So why the hell was he suited up?
Too late to deactivate and didn't want to give Philly time to adjust is my belief.

Other things could have occurred as well.

The whole situation was weird and I don’t think we ever truly find out what happened.
