Nobody knows. Probably just BS to use in concussion cases in court. I don’t think there’s any reason to believe it makes a difference.

It’s bizarre because other teams have no problem with their retro helmets.

They replace the decals on the helmets. I’d imagine that’s what the Patriots are doing with these ones with the original coloring of flying Elvis.

No, it was owner Orthwein who came up with the new colors and logo in 1993. With Tuna aboard he smartly wanted a clean break with the (losing) past. Then when Kraft bought the team he stuck with the same basic look making modifications.

I mean this season, they couldn’t get approval so they are going 90’s.

Fine by me. The team always has looked slower in red and white. ;)

Why not just make updated helmets with Pat Patriot?

I think it's considered a legit safety issue because everyone on the team would have to be fit with new helmets they're not used to just for one game. Other teams just change the logos.

Pat the Patriot was an absolutely awful logo, too big, awkward to fit on a helmet, way too detailed, and not helped by the fact that the team insisted on wearing white helmets which combined with pat's white trousers to make the image unrecognizable at ordinary football distances

At any kind of distance, if you didn't know it was Pat on the helmet already, you couldn't tell by looking at it. And this was in an era where TVs were not exactly HD. As a result the team looked really nondescript on TV. When you have to rely on context clues to figure out what you're looking at from a front row seat distance, the team needs a better logo

From the standpoint of being able to tell from ordinary football watching distances what that logo actually was, even the much ballyhooed Tampa Bay Buccaneer logo was superior

I know there's a few fans still not entirely happy with Flying Elvis, but at least you can recognize what that is from a distance of greater than 10 yards

Dallas traditionally hosts. Also, New England (at least Massachusetts) has a tradition of high school football games played on Thanksgiving.

You are doing life wrong If you hate the Pat the Patriot logo. Saying that is sacrilege.

They don't change helmets, just decals.

An updated one, but the current one looks like it was done by a bunch of 5th graders in some sort of art show competition..

I am a fan of the old one, but it needs to be revisited and stylized..

I hate it. As a logo it's terrible. The Patriots should have kept the tri-corner hat logo.
