Why don't any of you have patience?

Flores took his Dolphins from 1-7 to 9-7 in 2021 and would have made the playoffs over the Pats if they beat the Jags in London...
Right. That's the sort of late-season run I mean. Those players played hard for Flores. I absolutely think there's still a chance for Mayo and company to turn this season around and show some kind of spark to build upon for next year. But if they don't show that this season and don't make some significant change in the offseason, I think we're in for more trouble next year.

Desperate fanbase that wants a quick fix to return to prominence and think demanding a major change will achieve that. The same people calling for Mayo's head now were screaming for Brissett to be benched for Maye. And while Maye has been better and shown some flashes and some green moments, they lost both games and just got blown out by the Jags so clearly that wasn't the answer to turning things around.

Same with the fire Polk stuff. I'm old enough to remember when everyone was ****ting on Brissett for not targetting him a few weeks ago.

Pats fanbase is kinda getting embarrassing and quickly started acting like Browns fans the minute they went through a rough patch. Kind of annoying

He was right going for 2.

Down 15 you either need 2 scores of you get the 2 pt conversion of 3 if you miss it.

With 9 minutes left you want to know then whether you need 2 or 3 scores.

If you make the 2 it didn’t matter which time you ran it

If you miss you either know you need 2 more scores with 9 minutes left or you find out with 1 minute left when it’s too late.

Down 1 score vs down 2 scores are 2 very different strategies.

By going for 2 you get that info with time to do something about it.

That is an advantage of going for 2 the first time, there is no advantage of going for 2 the second time instead.
I hate that I agree with you on this, but you are right and I echoed the same thing.

You need to either go for 2 or it's a 3 score game. Better to find out early what it is and then manage your next possession accordingly

My question for OP and people like this: how bad does it have to get before we're allowed to be critical/negative? If they go 1-16 in YEAR FIVE of the rebuild post Brady are we still being impatient? The Patriots are the worst team in the NFL and entered the season with $50M in cap space, of course fans are going to be unhappy.
This problem is this isn't year 5 of a rebuild. There's two ways of looking at it, but either way it's year one.

Way 1: Bill Belichick thought he could role on as usual in 2020 and didn't change much, got caught with his pants down and got Cam. Then he got Mac and tried to fix some holes but never really had a huge revamp. And as late as 2023 was ignoring obvious problems like the line and WR's in the draft and going all in on defense.

If you view it this way, we weren't actually rebuilding. It was Bill trying to plug and play thinking he could make it work.

Way 2: If you give Bill the greatest benefit of the doubt, I guess he "tried" to rebuild, but did a horrible job and it failed and we are starting over.

However, either way you look at it, whether Bill didn't truly rebuild or failed, this year is effectively year 1, it's not a continuation of the last 4 years.

Its not about not having patience with a new HC and bad roster. its the gameday situations, timeouts, lack of any improvement in playcalling or strategey , constantly callig people out in the media, players having their own mouths running in the locker room , I am personally not used to. IF they play hard and compete, are competent with strategy but limted with personell like everyone in the local media predicted after game 1 it would be fine . Even if they lost all the games. Cant have holes everywhere especially outside the roster.

Another way to look at it is: starting from the day Belichick left was has happened that you feel good about?

Maye is the only thing I can readily think of.

Who did we acquire in free agency that you would say is helping? Maybe Gibson, but he’s made 2 or 3 plays and been blah otherwise. I can’t name a single other free agent that I would say was a good signing or us making positive contributions.

The draft? After Maye, so far there is no one doing well or loving up to their slot. Now you dont judge draft picks in 7 weeks, but at this point in time, so far it’s not looking good.

Gameplans? I don’t think anyone thinks those are well done.

In game decisions? Best case is neutral.

Personnel decisions? Such as are we playing the best guys and groupings or are they even good at evaluating who is? Zero confidence there.

Culture? This is a big negative to me. We seem to have a staff that manages by cliche and have no conviction behind it.

Coaching hires? Who feels good about them?

Does anyone have a list of positives?

Depends on what you mean by coaching change... I hate to quibble, but do you mean HC only or coordinators?

The best I came up with is the 2009-2010 Bears with Lovie Smith / Jay Cutler... They added Mike Martz as OC in 2010, replacing Ron Turner (had to look that up so thats based on what PFR is showing)... thats a pretty significant change of fortunes with a static HC/QB, hence the question at the beginning...
I was thinking Walsh & Montana, but I don’t remember if he was their starting QB the prior season…?

Going for two was no brainer. If you fail you know you need to be a lot more aggressive. If you fail to get it on the second touchdown, you’re SOL if you ran too much clock.
This revisionist nonsense today is just hysterical.
You make it a one-score game. You made a one-score game a two-score game, and made your defense, who had proven to that point they couldn't stop the run, somehow get two stops in 8 minutes.

I don't know why this is so hard to get. You aren't really just in a one score game, you still need to go for two. And if you don't get it you're SOL if you didn't play aggressive enough and ran too much clock.

Mayo made the right call. He gave the team an opportunity to overcome not getting the two the first time. If they didn't get it on the second try, they'd probably have been screwed.

Your right. One thing I will say is Mayo is taking accountability. He said this morning the state of the roster is on him and Wolf. I'm totally on board with you in a change would help Drake at play caller. McAdoo, or ??.. Drake is the main reason I'm watching the rest of the season.. he already has 5 TDs in 2 games.
Calling his players soft to the media, while being the one who's been giving them time off and light practices after blowouts - it's the exact opposite of 'taking accountability'.

You don't get to walk that back the next day, and pretend it didn't happen. That's not accountability.

Yeah this is year 1. Bill made no attempt to rebuild after Brady left and he should have. 2020 was the perfect time to pull the trigger on a rebuild.

Bill should’ve either rolled with Stiddy and give the position a proper evaluation; or he should’ve been much, much more pro-active in replacing Brady with somebody - anybody - better than Scam.

I want to know why so many here can't give the team time to rebuild. I see so many FIRE MAYO CUT POLK in messages i don't get it.

Mayo has had 7 games that is just his. it takes time to get a system and culture settled in.
People that are complaing about the D the team lost it's best runstopper to blood clots. a leading line backer to injury and good safety to stupidity.
They have not had the same OL in any game this year. Lost the anchor and veteran presence in Andrews
Even the most optimistic fan, which i am, thought this team would cap out at like 9 wins at most and that is with everything going nearly perfect.

So maybe we can just stop with the doom and try some positivity and yes the team is bad but we have a good young QB a good Young CB a WR core that has a lot of potential. So lets try that.
i agree. However, you are talking about people from New England where they are not happy unless they are unhappy.

Cam was good until he got Covid (and other teams got tape). I think it could have worked. There was something there.

I ultimately agree with you though, I would have liked to have seen Stidham and take their lumps - but Cam did get them closer to the playoffs, at least with his play in September.

Barmore was much improved against the run but he definitely was not their best runstopper. Godchaux was, and still is, their best run defender on the DL.

Losing Barmore and Bentley was bound to negatively impact their run defense, but should not drop them down from one of the top run defenses to one of the worst. That falls on the coaching staff.

I wanted to be optimistic, I tried to talk posters down from the ledge and provide some potential hope this offseason. But let's stop just pointing at Mayo...

The decisions this team makes, decisions on outside personnel in the offseason, things stated in press conferences and radio interviews, the personnel decisions week to week, the total lack of in-game adjustments, the player's penchant for creating a dumb penalty on crucial third and 4th downs, the off the field stuff that has embarrassed us more in one third of a season than the entire dynasty... this team is run by clowns.

Clowns from the top down, it starts with Jonathan and trickles down from there.

Stiffy you mean!! He sucks! He couldn't beat out cam, he couldn't beat out Mac and he couldn't beat out bo nix. He sucks point blank!

That's a retool IMO not a true rebuild. What I call a rebuild should have started the day Brady announced he wasn't coming back.

That certainly would’ve been in the best interests of the T-E-A-M, but we’ve all known since at least Feb 2018 that the best interests of the NEP and those of Bill aren’t always necessarily the same thing; there’s Papa Bear to catch, after all, as well as eventually the Hated Shula…
