I think the the 2011 Colts problems went beyond the QB.
Without "coach" Peyton Manning, the Colts coaching was really exposed and it showed.

No way they have a season like they did in 2011 if Belichick was coaching them.

I don't think the team should be experimenting with 2 point conversions with Tebow beyond any normal situation where you'd go for 2.

Look at the history of the two point conversion and you're going to say that Tebow's abilty to run will somehow be able to overcome a success rate of .4? And that somehow translates into him making your 53 man roster? Crack isn't your friend.

Research should be your friend however:

QB runs are successful a whopping 75% of the time, but the picture is still muddled. Often QBs will sprint for the end zone only when they sense they have a good chance, so there's likely a considerable amount of bias in that number. And only when they happen to be tackled between the 2-yard line and the end zone would the attempt be recorded as an unsuccessful run. If they're tackled behind the line of scrimmage it probably gets recorded as a sack, which is considered a pass play.

Still, even after removing all QB runs, conventional RB runs are successful 57% of the time.

And Tebow is 7-7 on runs within the 3 yard line.


So that's still a "yup".

Awesome idea, the Patriots need points so take the GOAT QB off the field and replace him with a fumble machine who can't pass. Defenses are really going to hate that.

The .4 in my post was totally wrong, remember everything you read on the internet must be true. And again, as a Colts fan, I really hope Tebow makes the Pats roster. Three yards and cloud of dust and all. But your team is going to suck ass all year long with him on it.

1. Did I say anything about taking Brady of the field? That would be a know. In fact, I've said with some consistency that I like the idea of Tebow lining up alongside Brady either as a conventional FB or as a 2nd QB that could potentially take a shotgun snap too.

2. College defenses certainly didn't like seeing Tebow in goal line situations. That's why he scored more CFB TD's than some of the absolute greats.

3. NFL defenses didn't much like it either considering the last stat I saw had Tebow going 7-7 from inside the 3.

And just as a point of interest (and no this does not mean I think Tebow should get a roster spot instead of Blount), but in 2011, Tebow had both more rushing TDs and rushing first downs than LeGarette Blount. Just found that and thought it interesting.

Well leaving aside the "fumble machine" BS, why not - there's a whole bunch of NFL players that play at different positions to where they started. This is hardly the novelty you're suggesting.

Clearly, we signed Tebow to give us something to post about for over 270 pages, and divert us from discussing legal issues.

The cost to the team was negligible, a few lost opportunities for the WR with a real quarterback.

Actually going to put my Ivan head on here and say that fumbles lost is a fairly irrelevant stat because chance is a major factor in who recovers the fumble.

But, in defense of my thesis about Tebow as a runner, he only had six fumbles as a runner. Still high but one season is not a good sample size (he had that many fumbles in his entire college career). And I look forward to Ivan dismissing RGIII and his 12 fumbles as a "fumble machine".
