What did Drake Maye learn today?

He played one game and completed 60% of his passes including many throws, 2 TDs included, where he hit receivers perfectly in stride. Without the bad drops he’s close to 70% and he threw the ball down the field. You are wrong
"If he didn't have all those incompletions, tipped passes, and turnovers, he would have been 100%!"

Sadly 2-15 is more like it, because the defense is atrocious, and the OL is a disaster. But we will see some good QB play, and more importantly Maye will gain experience and be ready to roll next year if the front office doesn’t produce another turd of an offseason.
Our Defense is going have problems holding leads and getting the other Offense off the Field. We are giving up close to 200yds Rushing weekly a Defense is going have a lot of problems if they're weak against the Run.

That is because we have a crappy defense. I never thought I would say that, the defense has been good to great for years and now they can't stop a nose bleed. QB's throw INT's and fumble the ball in games, its part of football. The defense should have been able to stop at least one of those from turning into points but they couldn't . This to me is the most frustrating part of this season. I really thought that the D would steal a couple of games for us this season , but it's not happening unless something drastically changes.
You can't expect a defense to be on the field all day, starting inside their own 30 for the bulk of it, and not have them break down.
In other words, you can't turn the ball over 4 times in your own territory. I don't care if you have the 85 Bears defense.

Holding WHAT leads?

He learned that NFL defenses have structure and that if you break them down a little bit, receivers will get open for big plays.

Don't force throws.

Move through your progressions and you have the arm strength to get the ball into tight openings.

Lastly, never ever hold the ball too long. 3 seconds and the ball needs to come out.
Ya, he gets his 1st start against the top 4 defense in the NFL (top 3 in passing D) - and he did better than JB in any previous game.
His first INT sailed on him - just a bad pass. And the 2nd was too telegraphed in the flat and got batted for a miraculous pick...
But no one would say he forced any throws. I thought he showed very good restraint in that regard.

Yeah, but his misses are bad. And not always under pressure. In college and this first pro game a high percentages of misses are food for picks.

If he completes 70% of his passes (in the modern game), but throws 25 interceptions a year, would I be wrong?

I am still optimistic this inaccuracy can be overcome with mechanics, since early word was Maye's was horrible, but it's often a tough hurdle.
What misses? He sailed the int and threw one ball a little behind the receiver but catchable.
Are you talking about throw aways?

There was a fluky int on a tipped ball and anoint he sailed. Thee weren’t really any other interceptable throws.

Is that what I said asshat?
He completed 60% and much of the 40% was unavoidable.

Yes Andy. That's what you said. And in this response, you just said it again.

He also should learn that nationally he is getting pretty much ignored from what I have seen. Do something that no other rookie QB did this year in one game?

Let's watch Calebs TDs in London.

Loser anti- Patriot media. Again, unless I am wrong.
Caleb Williams has scored 10 TDs in his last two games. Patriots QBs scored 16 all last season.

Jacoby Brissett had 3 turnovers in 5 games. Maye had 3 in 3 quarters.

Apples and Oranges. Surely you don't want JB back under center.

He also was in his first game, Brisket has been in the league for 9 years and has a SB ring as a backup. It's pure folly to compare the two. It's not about TDs/TOs right now, it's about what looks better.

Maye looked 10000 times better than Brisket.

I was answering the question about what he learned.

In other words, he learned that if you go off platform, structure breaks down and you can find open receivers. He did that.

If he struggles with picks/processing/reading defenses, the Patriots should not draft a QB in this weak class. They need to give him 2025 at least. There have been QB's who struggled their first year and went on to become HOFers. There are others who had a great rookie campaign before flaming out.
