Does anyone know if "Jason Cole" is Michael Silver's new pen name? Just curious...

As it stands the have the best QB in history and the worst WR corps in football, and that's idiotic.

I stronly disagree with the thought that we have the worst WR corps in football, especially when you take into acct the fact that the TE's are numbers 2 and 3 in targets and receptions. That's one of the reasons they decided to go out and extend them to big money pacts last summer.

Our top 4 receiving threats last season were Welker, Llyod, Gronk, and Hernandez. On top of that Danny Woodhead caught 40 balls as a RB, which I believe is the most ever in the Belichick era for that position, and a great weapon to have.

We also ran the ball more times than any other team in the league, so you'd have to take that into account as they obviously are putting more of a focus on the rush.

I'd have to say that a lot of teams would want to be in this horrible place at the skill positions, considering that we were the NFL's 3rd highest scoring offense ever, and that was with our TE tandem only being together in 5-6 games all season.

You are overreacting tremendously...

I never said the Patriots have the worst skill players in football, in fact they have really strong units at TE and RB, but without Welker they have the worst WR corps in football, and that's no overreaction it's a fact. Right now Lloyd is their 1 and Slater their2, and that sucks. By next week Slater could be their 1.

Obviously they are going to address it but if they decide to do so on the cheap then they will have taken a big step back at a vital position.

Yes, but you have to take into acct the fact that they went out and signed 2 of our top 3 receiving targets to mega-million dollar deals. You didn't say that our skill players sucked, but you claimed that our WRs sucked. All I'm saying is that you'd have to keep that in mind before coming to that conclusion.

If they hadn't extended 2 of our top 3 receiving options last summer, then I'd fully agree with you. In this specific offense we really only need one/two other options besides Welker at the WR position. At the moment we have Llyod, a guy who caught 75 balls last year. That is debatable as to whether or not they'll attempt to upgrade him.

I appreciate your frustration, but there's a good chance that there will be another option or two brought in either through the draft or through reasonable FA signings. In the meantime I don't agree that we're wasting Brady's years with lousy talent etc, which has been the popular mantra around here lately. Every year's a different year, and the past two seasons proved to be fine with the exception of Gronk's injuries. Let's just wait for the finished product of 2013 before we get too worried about his receiving targets. Belichick, Brady, Kraft and co. are certainly going all-in lately, so I'd imagine that they'll address everything.

With free agency set to open Tuesday at 4 p.m., Patriots owner Robert Kraft talked Monday regarding wide receiver Wes Welker, telling the New York Post, “We want Wes. We really do.”

It Is What It Is » Robert Kraft: ‘We want Wes’

Just over 24 hours before Wes Welker officially becomes a free agent that can sign with any team, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he hopes the receiver "remains a Patriot for life, just like Tom Brady."

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4740714/kraft-wants-welker-to-be-patriot-for-life

I can just see the PFT headline: "Robert Kraft wishes Welker dead rather than sign with another team."

"Communist Kraftism?: Patriots Owner speaks against free market employment, endorses indentured servitude."

You guys won't believe this: I said Wes Welker was waiting for the Patriots last offer. Received a correction: Actually their 1st offer

so pats only have 1 offer i guess?

Latest disdain level: Severe.

Regards,
Chris

With the news of the Denver signing, I'm closing this for the sake of not keeping two threads open on this topic.
