This is one of my favorite picks in many years. Home run hitter who’s an all around back. We haven’t had an explosive RB like this in many years. Just unbelievable speed.

As far as the Sony Michel draft pick. He was actually my favorite player in the 2018 draft. I thought he would be the perfect pick for the Pats to replace Deion Lewis, I liked him better than Chubb because I thought they’d use Michel more in the passing game more, and thought Michel was the better all around back than Chubb.

For some reason, Michel rarely looked like the explosive back he was in college (had 7.9 yards per carry and 16 TDS runs his senior year at Georgia). His rookie year was his best season, despite missing time due to a knee injury, which he had a history of having.

That being said, I agree with people saying we don’t win SB 53 without him. He played 16 games that year, 13 regular season and 3 playoff games. In those 16 games he had over 1200 yards rushing and 12 tds. He had 6 tds in the playoffs, a rookie record that still stands I believe. He had over 100 yards rushing in the first 2 playoff games and I believe 94 yards rushing in SB 53, and the only TD in that game. In total, had 336 yards rushing in those 3 playoff games as well as 6 rushing tds, a phenomenal playoff performance. The only RB to score more rushing tds in a playoff run was Terrell Davis scoring 8, but in 4 playoff games.

This a lot of people like to justify it but saying he help us win that 3rd run. But honestly it’s impossible to say Chubb couldn’t have equally contributed.

And it is impossible to say Chubb could have equally contributed. His blocking is rubbish.

Sony led to a Super Bowl. There are some teams in the NFL that have never won a SB. Why are you pissed off?

Sony Michel is a Super Bowl Champion, and Nick Chubb is a rich guy with stats that hasn't won Jack Sh!t.

But Nick Chubb was still a much better running back. It’s not his fault he went to Cleveland.

I wasn't familiar with Michel or Chubb in college, but read the reports leading up to the draft that Michel was viewed as an all around back. Chubb had some red flags coming out.

I'll have to remind some that the Pats running game was getting extremely predictable in big games. Blount was pretty bad in Championship and Super Bowls against the Broncos 2013 (5 carries for 6 yards), Seahawks 2014 (14 for 40 yards) Steelers 2016 (14 for 47 yards 1 TD) and the Falcons 2016 (11 for 31 yards and an early fumble). Teams were able to take him out of games early and this was a major problem. Chubb ended up being the better player, but Michel was picked because he viewed as being a multi-dimensional back. Because of this, I had no problem with the Michel pick.

I watched Henderson play a few times and read all the pre-draft stuff so I was excited when we picked him.
I knew he was a serious difference maker...
But Dayuuuuum!! I read Mike Reiss' Sunday morning column on ESPN and he devoted half the column to Henderson.
To say I was stoked after reading that is a big understatement. My adrenaline is still pumping an hour later lol.

At nfl.com they have a blurb at the bottom of Henderson’s page from an unnamed AFC scout that says the Ohio State coaching staff loves, loves this guy.

I now know the truth. They love, love, love T. Henderson. Being exceptional and unselfish? Now that’s rare.

He may not have been a great blocker, but he sure as hell was a much better running back than Sony. But I do agree that the Patriots wouldn’t have gotten #6 without Sony.

I liked the part in which once Judkins joined, Henderson put major time into route-running, etc.

That speaks volumes about him.

In the last Super Bowl run Sony Michel ran for 6 TDs (second all time) and 336 yards (12th all time) Maybe Nick Chubb could have done the same but this was an all time great seasonal playoff run for one guy

Chubb is a much better back than Sony and there's no doubt in my mind he would have had the same playoff success that Sony had with that run blocking he had in front. So would quite a few backs.

Having said that, it's revisionist history to say that only Belichick could have watched Michel and Chubb and thought Michel is the better prospect. On many draft boards Michel ranked higher than Chubb. Walterfootball had Michel at 22 and Chubb at 34, Mayock had Michel at 32 to Chubb at 36, Kiper put Michel at 28 and Chubb at 44 and a similar picture holds true for other sites.

Coming out of UofG Michel was superior in the passing game as a receiver and in blitz pickup/blocking.

Yes- they theoretically would have been fine running the ball w/ Chubb but the likelihood he would have gotten TB12 killed is much higher than w/ Michel. That also means Chubb would have played less.

They were pretty similar backs the first season.

IMO he needs to be that good to be worth this pick. I'm not hopeful. Not cause he isn't talented, but because that is rare. IF he turns out to be that good he's worth this pick. But that that is how valuable an RB has to be to be worth the 38th pick. Some RBs can look good on a stat sheet, but you don't feel their effect on on the game. He IMO needs to have the same effect on the game as someone like Gibbs. Who has less of an effect than people believe honestly.

Gibbs was drafted at #12…rather interesting take here.
