If he can do more great. Even if he can do 20 carries a game, he still wouldn't be my pick. To be worth this pick considering his inability to catch particularly well IMO he needs to be insanely good on the ground. Like practically Derrick Henry good. I have mentioned it before but for various reasons RBs who can't catch a lot and get big YPC constantly really limit their value. Why can he not be an every down back? 5'10 is big enough. He just needs to add 10 pounds or so of muscle.
Yeah, I thought they might go defense here as well (Ezeiruaku or Nic Scourton, for example) and then go either RB/WR or WR/RB with the next two picks.I know it’s not the same situation, but now that two college teammate RBs went to Cleveland and the Pats, I do hope we come out with the one that has the better career.
I’m excited about this pick although I was hoping for the BC edge.
IMO he needs to be that good to be worth this pick. I'm not hopeful. Not cause he isn't talented, but because that is rare. IF he turns out to be that good he's worth the pick. But that that is how valuable a RB has to be to be worth the 38th pick. Some RBs can look good on a stat sheet, but you don't feel their effect on on the game. He IMO needs to have the same effect on the game as someone like Gibbs. Who has less of an effect than people believe honestly.Same size as Jamyr Gibbs
Surprised Cleveland didn't take him two picks before. He would not be there in 3rd. Pats have needed a running game upgrade for a long time.
He had 2 drops the last 2 years and zero fumbles.
You make me laugh.500 yards in the air is my standard starting point metric. That is want i want in a 2nd round running back along with being a great runner. If he can give us that, i will be singing a different tune. He didn't do it in college in any year. Which concerns me. If he does it with us i will be happy.
What’s the issue with his receiving? I’m not familiar with him but saw this in the ESPN pre-draft analysis:Would not have been my pick. First off, he can't catch well, which is something i hammer home about on RBs. Secondly he isn't the kind of player who runs more than 12 times a game. I just don't believe considering those factors he has enough impact. That being said, i think he will be a good player. but not the one i would have picked at that spot.
But that's a completely different argument to what you originally said.500 yards in the air is my standard starting point metric if you aren't doing that it is hard to say they are doing enough to really impact the game. That is want i want in a 2nd round running back along with being a great runner. If he can give us that, i will be singing a different tune. He didn't do it in college in any year. Which concerns me. If he does it with us i will be happy.

I think more than 10 touches a gameLazar sees him the same way as I do. ~175 touches as year. A little more than a change of pace back but a guy you want to have the ball in space
Stevenson might lose starting with his fumblesWith only 3 RBs on the roster, I knew the Pats would be adding at least one in this draft. Somewhat surprised they got Henderson, but happy with the pick.. I figure he'll push Stevenson for snaps as the primary back by the end of the season and could supplant Stevenson by the start of 2026.
