DRAFT Welcome to New England, Ohio St RB TreVeyon Henderson

When Henderson takes it to the house the First time... we're going to prefer Rham on the bench. I can't tell you how many times I see Rham attack the one holes; he's not a Breakaway threat either. I was Clamoring for Guys with Speed on this Slow Offense.
The only thing with that is Henderson is not a every down back because he gets banged up and injured when he did that at OSU
That is why they brought in Judkins who did a good share of the work.
Which allowed Henderson to flourish as the lightning change of pace back and receiving back and had no injuries

I think there's enough carries and touches for all 3 backs. It's a long season. All of them can run, catch and pass block, including elite receiving ability from 2 of them. It's a really good position group now. Rham and Gibson are also gonna look better with an improved OL, better QB play, and better play caller.

When I think of Kevin Faulk and James White
I think of Trayvon Henderson but with dynamic speed
They were all out there plenty enough
But also on the sidelines plenty enough to stay fresh and away from injury
It also makes it hard on the defense, to defend 3 different style backs

Is there a video of his blocking? I saw one short where he devastated a guy but have not seen anything else.

Anyway the best Patriots RB I ever saw as far as pass blocking was Corey Dillon--he did not just block the pass rushers, he knocked their heads off. I have never seen anything like it; if Henderson can block as well as Dillon, then we are in for a fun season.

[Note: I don't could not find any pass blocking highlights for Mosi Tatupu, but gawd he was must have been nightmare for linebackers and safeties when he was running with the ball.]

Four backs.

I think Lan Larison is a lock to make the team and see action .

I loved the description I heard bestowed on Tatupu.

It was like trying to tackle a Coke machine.

Sam Monson thought he was a bit of a reach at 38, but I think he's a perfect fit for our offense.

I'm curious about Gibson's role now. He was an excellent zone scheme back and good in pass pro. Not sure how much we'll see of that under McD.
I am also intrigued because I think Larison makes the 53, so I feel like Gibby's job his on the line.

I don’t think we’re in a position to lose any of our RBs. We will need Rham, Gibson and TH. Not sure why, as fans, we’re so quick to get rid of decent/good players. We need those guys.

He led the league in fumbles. If he cant hold onto it better this year he needs to be gone.

I’ve always been a Rham fan. But I’m not a fan of turnovers. I sincerely hope he spends the entire off season carrying a football around and learning to never ever let it escape his grasp. After last season he’s on a short leash.

FIFY.

Gibson does not have a fumbling problem.
Not sure I agree with that. Gibson has 14 fumbles in his career, 9 of them lost fumbles. He lost his job in Washington due to it when he had 6 lost fumbles in 2021 and the Commanders drafted his replacement the next year. He put the ball on the ground twice for us last year but thankfully both were recovered.

I think both he and Stevenson have issues with ball security (Gibson averages 3 fumbles and 2 lost fumbles per 17 games and Stevenson averages 4 fumbles and 2 lost fumbles per 17 games). FWIW, Henderson finished his 4-year college career at Ohio State with 667 touches, 2 fumbles, and 0 fumbles lost.

Agree he needs to hold onto the ball better. Better coaching, better line play, better competition at RB and better attitude around the team might help him lock it up a bit. Either way, too talented for a not extremely talented team to just get rid of.
