DRAFT Welcome Mac Jones

This footage against LSU is as Brady-esque as it gets. His footwork, movement, mannerisms, the way he will sometimes stand completely still in the pocket when well-protected. Accurate, always on time. So good.

Over the past few days I've watched more Mac Jones games than I can shake a stick at. It's obvious he's an accurate QB and certainly has benefited from throwing to Harris and Waddle as they are incredible. Those guys get so much separation. Sheesh...

If there is one thing that jumped out as a "Brady Thing" is in fairly tight coverage he throws the ball in spots where it virtually impossible for the defender to intercept it- even to the uber-talened players. He isn't relying on them to "make a play" on a risky ball. He's leads receiver away from the defender.

This is also good for the receiver's health. Of the 100s of throws I watched there were not even a handful of throws he left the WR out to dry.

Some of his deep throws are simply incredible, hitting the wr in stride 30+ yards down the field.

Glad I’m not the only one. I’ve got to temper my expectations because I’m getting really excited to see him in our offense.

Since a lot of videos about him are showing highlights and strengths, I'd actually be interested in seeing a video breakdown of his bad games, bad throws, bad reads, etc. Not because I want to be negative, but because it will prepare me for the kinds of things we will see go wrong while he grows. A little balance in the interest of that tempering you mentioned.

Try this series. Good and bad plays. Nice scheme breakdowns. Easy to follow, great information.

How can one not be excited? Like you I also want to understand his strengths and weaknesses. Expectations need to be tempered.

He looks promising and a player that can theoretically do well in this system. I'll leave it at that.

I liked this video. I'm getting more and more excited.
The main thing I can't really envision is his locker room presence and leadership. He seems like a good guy, nice person, awesome football player, but to me he is not the clear cut "alpha" locker room guy, sometimes appears like young and childish boy.

In the Herald’s story, they explained how he was okay telling his LT to shut the **** up and shift over. He’s got a natural aw shucks charm to him, and jokes a lot, but his teammates at Alabama tell you that he won their respect because he’s intensely competitive, very smart and is much harder on himself than anyone else can be.

There’s the story of him fumbling in the National Championship. He got really pissed at himself for a moment, then got himself together, went over to the offensive line, told them it was his fault, but they were fine and would go back out there and play their game. I don’t think he’s going to have a problem convincing his teammates he’s a leader.

I hate to say this but Tom wasn't the "Alpha" when he started in 2001. Neither was Drew.

That was Willie, Lawyer, Woody, Anthony Pleasant, Ty, Bryan Cox and Izzo. That collection of bad-asses held everyone accountable.

I always think about Teddy leading the locker room huddle and how that didn’t fall to Brady after Teddy’s retirement, but went to Slater. Those are the alphas in my mind.

Yep. Tedy is an alpha. If you recall Tedy wasn't a captain in 2001. He was still kinda evolving as a MLB and a leader. He became captain in 2002.

I think Tom has tried to be an alpha at times and gets that high-pitched voice...somewhat comical

I think Milloy nicknamed him, "Squeaky"

Real test is when he starts in a typical NE winter snow game day....

Mac Jones hand size: 9.75 inches

TB12 hand side 9.38 inches.

Good. Decent size hands to hold onto that cold football.
Like I've stated before, hand size appears irrelevant to the success of a QB in the NFL. Some people make a big to do about it but Tom Brady for his career was near top of the league in fewest turnovers each year, this includes both fumbles and interceptions. And this while playing 99% of his career in the unforgiving cold weather conditions of New England.

There's a mythical rule of thumb that 9.5" is the ideal hand size, but I could care less TBH.

Just to give real life examples: the GOAT Tom Brady's hand size 9.38". Joe Burrow's hand size 9" flat and #1 overall pick. Patrick Mahomes hand size a mere 9.25" Yet Nobody doubts that he is probably a generational QB talent. Jared Goff hand size 9" two time pro bowler and #1 overall pick.

Read this article please so we can bust this myth together:

Now that you have read the article, can we finally give this MYTH a REST??
