Campbell is a great LT, but playing Campbell at LG is not ridiculous. Sorry. Campbell could be one of the greatest LGs of all time. Campbell might be perfect at LG. I know I will get murdered for this, but Campbell might be the closest to Hannah at LG as the NFL has seen. If we could draft a dominant LT in 2026 and move Campbell to LG, we would have one of the most dominant left sides EVER for 10 years. I am a BPA guy, but if a dominant R1 selection at LT is available in 2026, pushing Campbell to LG, that should create a woody for you. If not, you need to see your Dr.

The point is several fans said he couldn't play tackle. Not that he might be better at OG, but that he simply couldn't play OT in the NFL.

Panthers vs Patriots: Offensive preview

The Carolina Panthers try to get the offense jump started against a Patriots defense that’s prone to allowing big plays.

The Carolina Panthers put 30 points on the board this past weekend, but that probably overstates the effectiveness of the offense. Bryce Young and company only averaged 4.1 yards per play, which was below their season average to that point and dropped the Panthers to 30th in the stat for the season. The Falcons have had a good defense so far, and the offense was playing from ahead and trying to grind clock, so that can be explained away a bit, but it’s something to keep an eye on.

This weekend provides an opportunity to push the offense and show that it has more pop than it’s shown so far this season. The New England Patriots are 1-2 and searching for their first home win. They’re coming off a good defensive outing against the corpse of Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers, but in the first two weeks they were relatively soft. In total, they’ve allowed 5.8 yards per play, seventh worst in the league, and they rank 27th in defensive DVOA. . . .

The author's keys for Carolina:
● Don’t get hung up on establishing the run.
Everyone wants to establish the run and assert their dominance, but the Patriots have been significantly more susceptible through the air, even against questionable passing offenses. The Panthers are probably going to need to lean on their own questionable passing offense.
● Generate some explosive plays.
The Panthers’ longest play against the Falcons went for 23 yards; it was the wheel route to Tetairoa McMillan on fourth down of the team’s opening drive. The team has been grinding out drives, which is a hard way to survive on a consistent basis.
● In conjunction with that, keep Bryce Young protected.
In all, the Patriots rank tenth in total pass rush win rate, which is somewhat concerning for a beat up offensive line that has been shaky in pass protection.

● Control the rushing attack again.
While the Patriots have definitely leaned more on the passing game, with about a 60-40 split with rushes, this would be the game for them to try and lean on the rushing attack a bit more. Derrick Brown will need to continue throwing fools around.
● Finish the pressures.
While the Panthers pass rush did a much better job of effecting the results of passing plays last week, they still are struggling to actually get hits on the quarterback. This would be the week for Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen to be unleashed on passing downs. Also watch for Tre’Von Moehrig flying around the backfield as a blitzer.
● Continue to involve the young guys in the secondary.
Last week, the Panthers got rookie safety Lathan Ransom a lot more involved with the starters, as he came in to allow Moehrig to play closer to the line of scrimmage where he thrives. Chau Smith-Wade also had himself a career day, as he was targeted several times but managed to make several solid tackles to limit yardage, as well as a pick six and a nice pass deflection. Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn seem to be having quite a year on the perimeter, but the middle of the defense and the safeties will be challenged. DeMario Douglas, Hunter Henry, and Austin Hooper could all be go-to options for easy completions for Drake Maye.

Panthers finally confront their nightmare free agent rejection in Week 4

Milton Williams is a name the Panthers are very aware of, mainly for the wrong reasons. In the offseason, the Super Bowl winner was a coveted free agent. It seemed Dan Morgan had pulled off a coup when the defensive lineman was reported to be close to signing with Carolina. But alas, as fans are accustomed to, things never go smoothly.

As time passed, rumors began to circulate that the Patriots had hijacked the deal. Lo and behold, the former Louisiana Tech prospect signed a four-year, $104 million contract. With the Panthers already paying Derrick Brown big money on the defensive line, they were never going to match this money.

Keeping Bryce Young clean will be vital to Carolina getting back to .500. The interior offensive line trio of Mays, Damien Lewis, and Chandler Zavala will have to be at their best to shut down Williams, as he looks to make the Panthers regret not forking out the extra money to get the player on board.

Its not ridiculous to think he can play LG but people were relegating him to LG before he ever had a shot at LT. I am not confident that he can play LG, he plays the majority of his snaps in a 2 point stance and that leads me to wonder if he could be successful vs a bull rush from a DT from a 3 pt stance.

I noticed it when he was at LSU and found it to be very premature when draft "experts" said he could be an all world OG. I am not saying he could not do it but I think there is a huge red flag with the stance

I agree that Campbell might not be a ideal at LG. I leave it to the experts to assess how well Campbell would handle the DT bull rush. But Campbell is a great run blocker in space and moves really well to pull.

Yes folks on here, but quite a few "draft experts" also were saying that he should be moved inside and then after the combine and his arm length most of those experts were convinced that he had to play inside. Several posters here and other forums started to run with the narrative that he would not do well. So the notion that he should move inside before ever taking a snap was ridiculous.

Several posters here and other forums started to run with the narrative that he would not do well. So the notion that he should move inside before ever taking a snap was ridiculous.

He seems really comfortable starting in a 2-pt stance. So I wonder if moving him to LG; where he would need to be in 3-pt, would be a learning curve or un-natural there after all college and now 1st year pro time.

I liked the OiBS post (the idea -more lukewarm) of the thought of getting a super LT and then having a dominant left side; just :
A. the past 10 years of drafting leaves me skeptical to the idea that they will successfully execute the draft strategy (& will draft a bum-bust);
B. in addition there is likely only a 50% chance the Pats draft pick will even be in a position to get ANY LT; let alone a dominant one. Right now they are in the 7-10 range with an optimistic tendancy to go to 14-18. The best LTs this year were gone by 10 (4-7-9); with only Conerly (RT at 29 for Cdrs Redskins) and a high-risk injured guy falling to the queefs (32).

He had 6.5 Sacks last year in part-time play. That could change the dynamic a little in the only being worried about Derrick Brown.

Now you’re just arguing for arguments sake. I’m not sensitive at all. Stating it’s ridiculous that posters here along with countless so called NFL experts and analysts said he couldn’t play OT in the NFL despite playing the position at an extremely high level in the best division in college football is 100% RIDICULOUS.

Perhaps you’re one of those that relegated him to OG and you’re sensitive to your position being incorrect?

From the highlight tape from last week vs Atlanta; it looks like CAR D is really dangerous when you throw to the left. Their CB & S there were anticipating; jumping routes; and picking balls.
