All that stuff on pressures showing he’s doing great are just statistics. You can make them show anything. Short arms are facts
Short arms are facts, but are not as detrimental as many thought. At least to this point

In Wednesday’s practice, coaches wanted the running backs to simulate getting low to the ground while having a defensive player try to physically punch the ball away from their arms. When the two veterans lost the ball on Sunday, coaches noticed it happened when they were getting low toward the end of their runs.

Assistant coaches have worn boxing gloves and physically tried to punch the ball away from running backs. Position coach Tony Dews even has a long pole with a helmet attached, and he uses that to try to dislodge the football from his player’s arms.

“We had one drill, we had to go over three bags. So, we brought some linebackers over, kind of simulating us going to the ground and stumbling,” Gibson said. “As we’re going to the ground, just reminding us to keep the ball tight as they’re punching. That’s what happens a lot – when you’re getting low to the ground, trying to dive to get those extra yards. That’s when it can kind of get loose. That was a good drill right there.”

“We did a couple of different ball security drills yesterday,” Stevenson told MassLive. “I think they all were good and different. We worked with the linebackers, who actually punched the ball out and worked on that stuff. Getting that work with them was good for us.”

Under Mike Vrabel, the Patriots have practiced ball security drills. Assistant coaches have worn boxing gloves and physically tried to punch the ball away from running backs. I can't believe we are doing this stuff, 4 games into the season. What were they doing for the previous 4 months?

Just wait until defenses find out he has short arms. I haven't seen that comment in awhile and wanted to see if the Campbell hater crew is still out here.
This might sound silly, but as soon as I saw his onstage interview draft night, I thought this kid is a dog and is going be great. His years dominating in the SEC didn't hurt either

Amazing how many fans relegated him to OG before he even played an NFL snap, ridiculous.

We want some Chism.

What a bunch of BS. If the coaching staff has known what drills to run for ball secuirty why did they wait until the end of September to start running those drills? The fact that Stevenson has never held onto a ball or Gibson was released by the Giants because he fumbles a lot is a surprise to Vrabel's staff? Why didn't this happen in July?

Campbell is a great LT, but playing Campbell at LG is not ridiculous. Sorry. Campbell could be one of the greatest LGs of all time. Campbell might be perfect at LG. I know I will get murdered for this, but Campbell might be the closest to Hannah at LG as the NFL has seen. If we could draft a dominant LT in 2026 and move Campbell to LG, we would have one of the most dominant left sides EVER for 10 years. I am a BPA guy, but if a dominant R1 selection at LT is available in 2026, pushing Campbell to LG, that should get you excited.

Maybe amidst all the *****ing and moaning about guys with injuries, and the sale of around 8% of the team for an obscene amount of money we might spend at least a small amount of time discussing our upcoming opponent. Personally, I don't know much about them except they have a young team like ours. They've had a couple of good drafts with high picks. Their QB looked like a bust at first but now doesn't. AND they just won their last game 30-0

So can we FINALLY on a Thurday start a discussion about these Panthers and find out who some of them are and what they are capable of doing. You know do some of the things we USED to do around here when we used to be Patriots fans.

Yea, there are tons of posters here that will spew the narrative that they hear mediots say. Then they will jump on something that they heard or read and spread it like gospel (his short arms will doom him). So and so is too slow or too short.

Young doesnt seem to be building off of what he did the second half of last season. In that 30-0 win he had 120 yards passing and no TDs and the Falcons were such a mess offensively that they fired their wide receivers coach after the game because they couldn't run routes properly. Young basically had one good game out of the three and that was the near comeback against Arizona that the Cardinals did everything in their power to give the game away. Even in that "good"game he was a big part of the reason they went down by so much. An early strip sack Arizona returned for 6 and then he held the ball way too long and threw a pick as he was getting hit.

Xavier Leggette has been a complete bust with 4 catches for 8 yards (while somehow having a 9 yard catch). Their entire offense is slants and jumpballs to McMilian and check downs to Chuba Hubbard. Their defense only has one sack on the year but has a good pressure rate. Derrick Brown is a beast against the run and is probably their best player with Jaycee Horn out at corner coming in at a close second.

Overall Carolina and New Orleans will be our two most winnable games and is about as close to a must win for us as you will get in September. Dropping this one and falling to 1-3 then heading to Buffalo followed by two more road games our playoff chances would likely evaporate.

Its not ridiculous to think he can play LG but people were relegating him to LG before he ever had a shot at LT. I am not confident that he can play LG, he plays the majority of his snaps in a 2 point stance and that leads me to wonder if he could be successful vs a bull rush from a DT from a 3 pt stance.

I noticed it when he was at LSU and found it to be very premature when draft "experts" said he could be an all world OG. I am not saying he could not do it but I think there is a huge red flag with the stance

Also there is an 8 page thread on the game.

I was kidding. I thought it was sufficiently irrational for that it would be obvious. I forgot where I was

Hey Ken, hope all is well with you and your health.

Going to move this over to the pregame thread.

A few tidbits:

Carolina's defense has vastly improved through three games, ranking 8th in points allowed and 21st in yardage.
That's due in large part to five turnovers/takeaways, which is 5th best in the league.
Last week against Atlanta they picked off Penix twice (one for a TD), and also had a fumble recovery.

Another factor is their opponents average starting drive position is the 21-yard line, best in the NFL.

The Carolina offense is heavily dependent on two players:
- RB Chuba Hubard (168 yards rushing, 74 yards receiving; 242 yards from scrimmage)
- WR Tet McMillan (14 receptions, 216 yards)

Those two account for more than half (458 yards) of Carolina's offense (875 yards).
Those two also combine for 3/4 of Carolina's first downs (25 of their 34 first downs).

So obviously they key on defense is limiting those two players.
McMillan has been dealing with a calf injury, but it looks like he will play.

Just wait until defenses find out he has short arms. I haven't seen that comment in awhile and wanted to see if the Campbell hater crew is still out here.

What finalized my appreciation for him was, in an interview with JE11, that he admitted to wearing the same pair of Superman underwear every single game, traveling with it in a plastic bag, and never lets anyone else wash it for him.

While an absurdly dumb ritual, I do believe that it's those weird-ass individuals that do best as OL in the NFL. Same idea goes for catchers in baseball.

Sorry, this forum has taught me that when I think something is a joke/sarcastic it probably isn't.

Sorry for the error on my part

What makes Campbell ideal for LG? (Asking as a guy who doesn't know intricacies of OL play, as suggested by my last post, where I admit to being sold on Campbell because of his underwear choice on gameday)

I imagine it is because of his movement ability and his play strength is pretty good. He has been anchoring fairly well vs edge bull rushes.

as I mentioned above, I do not think he will be ideal OG because of his playing height. He could overcome it but it has not been done so still up in the air in my mind.
