Yeah the Ravens scored 38 points yesterday but it's not what it seems. It's 21 points on these three plays.

Kickoff return TD
Lamar 79 yard TD run
One pass play where an 8 yard catch somehow turned into a 75 yard TD.

Limit the BIG play?? After yesterday's Balt-Mia game that should be a key to the game.

I agree with previous posters. Pats will need to score in the 20's to win this one. 17-20 points will not get it done.

Early week thoughts:

- I'd rather play the Ravens coming off a BIG win than a desperate team looking at 1-2 if they lose. But it is what it is.

- I'll be keeping an eye on the statuses of the Ravens' DB's. Either way, we aren't gonna be airing it out too much.

- I want to see more of what we did yesterday on the last drive that chewed up the remaining 6:33 and 2 Steeler TO's. Just run the ball until they stop it...1st, 2nd, and 3rd down...move the chains...grind out 3-4 yards at a time.

- What was up with Henry yesterday? He was on the field, but never saw a target go his way...is he hurt?

- And please god...can we get Jonnu invloved? We should be throwing/handing off the ball to him more than 2-3 times a game.

- Algholor should be out there on every snap along with Meyers. Parker should only come in on 3rd and shorts or goal line plays for boundary throws.

- Our defense might be some good...by my count...our defense is allowing 13.5ppg through two games...and that's only 2 TD's allowed...one being a 4th down to Waddle (busted coverage) and the other a TD to Friermuth that was waaayyy too easy....(ditto for the 2 point conversion by Johnson). Otherwise, it has been 4 figgies... yeah it was Trubisky yesterday...but we have faced some really good WR's in Hill, Waddle, D. Johnson, Claypool, and Pickens...as well as the TE's in Friermuth and Geisicki. This gives me confidence vs. Bateman, Andrews, and Likely next week (their top 3 in targets with 18, 12, and 9).

- I hope Dugger is OK...we totally need him!

- I'd like to see some more pressure from Barmore in the middle though. Does anyone know how teams have been blocking him? Double teams?

- I absolutely love Mack Wilson. So nice to have some speed at LB....if not for him tipping a ball...that is probably a TD to D. Johnson (Mills interception play).

Yes and no
Yes......on pace for 110 catches and 1275 yds (both #'s on pace to be better than JE's career bests)
No......1.9 YAC.....down from #120th ranked 2.7 YAC last season (24 total YAC in 2 games)

Tremendous possession receiver
Miscast as the team's #1

McCorky's passing options: Either target the YAC Challenged possession receiver or chuck a jump ball floater and prey
to St. Patrick the DB has sun in his eyes.
Digging deeper into the Edelman/Meyers comparison.....

As mentioned above, Meyers is on pace to surpass Edelman's best season in both catches and yards and while projecting forward is typically a fool's folly, I can't help but chuckle about how each are perceived by we fans.

Career catch %
Meyers.......68%
JE..................66%

Yds/Rec
Meyers.......11.6
JE..................11.0

1st downs
Meyers...on pace for 51 (42 in '21)
JE..............low 50's during his starter years
-----------------------------------------
Necessary acknowledgements:

JE scored TDs (6 TDs/yr as starter)
JE shined is high leverage games...aka...playoffs
JE caught passes from Tom Brady
JE shared the field with the GOAT TE

Meyers is TD challenged
Meyers QBs (when starting): Cam Newton and Mac McCorky
Meyers has shared/shares the field with N'Keal Harry, Jonnu Smith, and whichever jump ball specialist the consultants send out on any given Sunday
--------------------------------------------
Perception:
Despite uncanny regular season stat similarities...
One is an all-time fan favorite with local HOF support
The other, 'not good enough for a championship team'

New Englanders do love their scrappy little __________ guys!

Getting back to the business of football....
What kind of contract will JM command on the open market next year and will Bill pay up for Mac's binky?

From the outside looking in, I have to believe GMs would be salivating for this type of lower cost reliability especially when paired with legitimate threats.

Of course, the commonly heard narrative regarding Meyers (and NE) is that teams are more than happy to let arm strength-challenged Mac McCorky string high volume underneath passes to his binky Meyers who has demonstrated sub-minimal ability to create yards after the catch (or TDs)

I can say eliminate the kickoff return TD because that doesn't happen every day but Lamar is a threat to take one for a TD from anywhere on the field. Same thing with the long TD catch. I think they're an explosive offense.

I don’t feel too good about this matchup. Their d seems to be their weakness but i dont think our offense is ready yet to take advantage of that. I’ve been really liking our defense thus far but dont think they can carry us on their back to victory in this one, that offense is too good to hold under 20. Have to shorten the game and hope for our guys to make some plays at the end .
The Ravens' defense totally sucks!

Joe Flacco passed for 307 yards and 1 TD in the Ravens opener and the Jets added another 83 yards rushing for a total 390 yards
Tua Tagovailoa passed for 469 yards and 6 TDs in game two and the Ravens gave up 86 yards on the ground for 555 yards total offense

That same Dolphins offense managed 335 yards total offense and one TD in week 1 to the Patriots.

The Patriots defense is not giving us any signs that they are going to give up a lot points. Win the turnover battle, win the game. This is the game that Agholor, Smith, Parker, Henry and Bourne put it together.

I will say this again IF the Pats D can hold them to 20 we have a chance but our Offense led by Mac will have to score 21. IF the Ravens get a two score lead on us it over Mac have to play mistake free ball. Good Teams will make us pay for our mistakes.

They do look bad on defense, my point is are we ready to exploit that?

I like our defense but Baltimore has a really good offense, you still have to anticipate them scoring at least 17-20 no matter how good we play. Our offense will need to do more this week.

This is the game Mac should throw over 350 yards and get his Season rolling and Confidence in his WRs ,,,especially Parker,,,( has he made a catch so far ? )
Really love our Defense ,, 30 - 24 Pats.

Literally nothing I've posted is satire. If anyone has an issue with my confidence in this team, that's their problem.
You aren't a Pats fan.

You're Chiefs or Bills or one of the teams that NEP has tormented all those years. Now is the time to get vengeance by claiming this NEP team is tops in the NFL and Super Bowl bound.

Anybody know if he returned to the game? He’s been big for them so far this year. Quiet since drafted, but has been showing up lately.

This lady was so triggered that I exposed her as a non-Patriots fan that she has completely lost all ability for clear and rational thought. She legitimately thought the "I know you are but what am I" tactic was a good idea.:rofl::rofl:

Theoretically this should be a much better game for us on the offensive side of the ball. Turn Bourne loose, could have a monster game, barring Mac having another so-so outing.

Hope it's just a little sophomore slump right now and not something persistent going forward (poor mechanics and decision making). He's had some good throws but he's had a fair amount of bad throws. Offense hopefully starts rounding out!
