He was drafted to be a slot defender, so he'll play both corner and safety -- he's an ideal nickel guy who should see a lot of play in sub packages. He's better inside than out (not that he's bad there, but he's very, very good defending in the slot), and we've picked up some other young guys -- like Jackson -- who show promise as potential boundary corners.

How do you know he's "very very good defending the slot"?

He was good at doing that - in college. Most of the guys he defended in the slot in college are bagging groceries or loading trucks now

We have no idea what he is or how well he can play in the NFL.

So, let's just never project rookies to do anything?

What we do know is that in college he was one of the best defenders in the slot for the last few years. He has skills that translate well to a specific role that he's likely to be tasked with in NE. Why even quibble about that? I didn't claim he's going to be an all pro -- but what we know of him so far based on his college resume is that he has considerable experience and production as a slot defender.

So who gets the gas face on those wasted Draft picks BB or Caserio?? Somethings gotta give.

A little reminiscent of things running a little dry on Pioli. I don't think we need to assign gas face to any of three given what they put together as whole. That said can't ignore it either.

That's the point.

Which means "not good enough to play outside"

They'll get him back some time in November - hopefully, both him and Jordan Matthews.

Strongly disagree. The college game has developed into a wide open passing attack that features spread and rpo concepts far more than the NFL does (and even the pro offenses have evolved and borrowed from college). Slot or star is a specific role on almost all of the teams now. It's a valuable position if someone can play it well. Not every boundary corner has the skill set to slide inside and cover, or the sturdiness to play a hybrid safety/linebacker position. Dawson shows that he may be able to handle both run and pass responsibilities from an inside alignment, which is valuable in today's game.

New set of tryouts. Two big OLs. Adams was intriguing G/C prospect. Failed physical kept him on the street (like K.Davis last year). Drango has RG, RT and LT experience in CLE.
DB Robinson a former 3rd rounder moved to S at TB and was ST captain..

Perhaps worth noting that the Pats have had 15 SFAs in for tryouts so far since cutdowns.

Last year, at this point, they'd had 17 guys try out, including 4 QBs.

I’m starting to think there’s something to this. Maybe they’re planning to use one of Darboh’s tendons for Wynn’s achilles repair?

They should just use a horse's ACL

Thanks for explaining how inside guys are different than outside guys. Next you might have to explain that defensive linemen and linebackers are different.
