So much "we suck" content here, for no good reason.
Over in CIN, they just signed their franchise QB Joe Burrows to the richest contract in NFL history, $54M a year, and ended up pulling him at the end of the game because they didn't want to see him hit any more. They lost 23-4, Burrows ended up with 82 yards in the air. Hot-shot WR Tee Higgins was targeted eight times for zero completions.
Down in NY/NJ, the Giants just signed Daniel Jones to $40M a year and he ended up throwing for 102 yards and two INTs, one a pick-six, as they lost 40-0.
Mac Jones on his rookie contract threw for 316 yards, three TDs and the one pick-six INT and we lost by four to the team that was the second best in the league last year and highly rated on both offense and defense.
I don't know why some of you have "playoffs or bust" hard-ons. Most projections I read say this team is an 8 win team. Below is NFL.COM's analytics person projecting 7.8 wins with a ceiling of 9.1 and floor of 6.5. That typically isn't good enough for the playoffs. This isn't coping, this is being realistic.
The bottom line to me is, enjoy this team for what it is. It isn't the dynasty. TB12 ain't coming through that door, except to ring the bell from time to time. We saw some good plays yesterday and some bad ones too. Let's hope they get better over the course of the season.
