The main assumption you're making is that our OL opens up running lanes. I have yet to see that optimism justified. My main worry with our offense STARTS with that OL!
Fair
We don't know much after 1 game but I think we could run the ball better next Sunday

Wait, so we were in contention against the Superbowl-caliber Eagles except for an inexcusable decision by Belichick, but can't contend with the top of our own division?

You might want to work on the internal logic there.
Miami had a really solid offseason and improved its already stout roster. The Eagles lost players.

That being said, I see Miami as a tougher match up for our defense because they have awesome skill guys and Tua is slinging it well. I do think offensively we should be able to move the ball easier but Mac needs to come out of the gate sharp.

The Eagles weren't even playing their A game and we lost because we're still the team that makes the mistakes to lose games at the end instead of winning them.

In terms of talent level there are clear differences between the top of the AFCE East aka the Bills and Dolphins and us.

Right now we're in contention with the Jets for 3rd place and if Rodgers catches fire we'll end up 4th. I don't see any inconsistency to that.

Next week is a crucial game for us. The high flying Dolphins versus our sputtering offense that only produced 54 total yards COMBINED between our two lead backs of Ezekiel Elliot and Rhamondre Stevenson.

And if we're going to compare the aerial firepower of the Dolphins vs the Patriots... It ain't even CLOSE!

Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Tua Tagovailoa versus Mac "Popgun arm" Jones and our assortment of MID slot receivers. This is how this matchup looks on paper:

Yeah, but Miami's Oline is falling apart. Keion White and Judon are already licking their lips.

So much "we suck" content here, for no good reason.

Over in CIN, they just signed their franchise QB Joe Burrows to the richest contract in NFL history, $54M a year, and ended up pulling him at the end of the game because they didn't want to see him hit any more. They lost 23-4, Burrows ended up with 82 yards in the air. Hot-shot WR Tee Higgins was targeted eight times for zero completions.

Down in NY/NJ, the Giants just signed Daniel Jones to $40M a year and he ended up throwing for 102 yards and two INTs, one a pick-six, as they lost 40-0.

Mac Jones on his rookie contract threw for 316 yards, three TDs and the one pick-six INT and we lost by four to the team that was the second best in the league last year and highly rated on both offense and defense.

I don't know why some of you have "playoffs or bust" hard-ons. Most projections I read say this team is an 8 win team. Below is NFL.COM's analytics person projecting 7.8 wins with a ceiling of 9.1 and floor of 6.5. That typically isn't good enough for the playoffs. This isn't coping, this is being realistic.

The bottom line to me is, enjoy this team for what it is. It isn't the dynasty. TB12 ain't coming through that door, except to ring the bell from time to time. We saw some good plays yesterday and some bad ones too. Let's hope they get better over the course of the season.

Br
You may be right, but maybe let’s see how JSS does playing against the Broncos and Vegas does playing against the Eagles?
Broncos have a good D but Raiders also have DAdams. I chaulk it more to Meyers being familiar w/ McD's offense and JuJu not so much with ours.

In the grand scheme, losing to an NFC team does not really hurt us at all other than being an L. Miami is a much bigger game. We win that and we jump them in the standings.

If you wanna make ridiculous statements than perhaps you should ask your self how Mac would of fared in the same situation?
you said only all time qbs come back from 0-2. i stated correctly that tb was NOT an all time qb in 01. since you call facts "ridiculous",i don't know how to respond.

You didn't know he was all time. Its ok, none of us did.

Maybe that's true for Mac too.

My optimism has been happening in stages. Since I don't follow college football I started to get excited when I saw the confidence that the draft gurus had after the draft. And now, I'm more optimistic about their chances after seeing them play. They could surprise people, including some of our own fans.

I knew there were two posters with Bruin type names but I wasn't sure which one was the dipstick and which was a normal poster. I found that out in this thread.

i doubt mac is going to be all-time but i'd be happy with 2nd tier and clutch and a great leader really. if you look at a guy like garoppolo he's not a great qb. but he is able to help his team win. if mac could be a bit better than him i'd be happy because a)he shouldn't cost as much b)it will make it easier to keep good players around him
