If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

Early last year Robinson flashed real power as a run blocker, but was missing assignments & switches on pass blocking. Then I think he got nicked up and missed a little time, and then the coaching chaos made any judgements about him suspect. So I don't know what we have in him but good chance at PS.

I thought we saw numerous instances of Robinson moving people like a young Shaq Mason
I am thinking with some coaching and added experience, he can be a very good OG. maybe he is not that finished product yet, but can he be? I believe yes. If Wilson is next years starting OC, there will be a need for a LG next year. Maybe also a RG depending on Onwenu's performance against his cap hit. Robinson on the PS with coaching could be a candidate next year.
Robinson has trouble maintaining 300 pounds and was weak leaving school… you ignored the question earlier… how is he a power blocker?
I don't think there is a need for a back up OC. Brown has already taken that position, and Wilson may be the starting OC by years end, or next year.
If Brown was any good they wouldn’t have brought Alec Lindstrom in. They’re looking to replace Strange as the main interior backup. Strange might make a stink over his contract, Brown won’t. Brown is a jag.
I think using salary as a reason for Strange falling out is incorrect. if he was the best player for the position, he would be playing. he isn't.
he simply is not good enough. perhaps it's because of his prior injury.
Contract is always a factor, especially when said player wants to get paid. Stop playing naive to push your agenda.

cutting Strange saves the team zero dollars. his salary and sign bonus are all guaranteed
the best thing for Strange is to go out and win the job, and play well for his next contract, be it here, or elsewhere. the Pats have zero incentive for Strange to not win the job. yet the very 1st week of practice, he was bypassed by a rookie at LG, and by passed by a guy you call a jag at OC.

Why all the hate for Campbell - this guy will adapt and grow during this season. We're gonna love him.
Strange gets so much crap - but he's a valuable vet that can be versatile at G & C
I'm more concerned with Moses - I don't know how he stays healthy for even half a season. I hope Bryant keeps rising.
I've been a supporter of Brown since last year - he might be our 2nd half starter at C if Bradbury can't hold up.
Wilson & Wallace may end up our future at C & LG - but Wilson may start at LG this year, with Wallace hanging around as a rotational guy who has experience at both Tackles.
Brown is stout and won't get bullrushed. But he reminds me so much of Ted Karras. My god, they can't move laterally at all. Forget about the center pulling on a run play.

There is some incentive. New coaching staff, would like clarity not only for this year but also next.

There is some of this going on with Dugger as well. With their contracts either outsized (Dugger) or expiring (Strange), will these 2 be around for next year? If not, then it makes sense to see how others who will or can be here are going to fare before shelling out more dough to the vets.

I think this is how Dugger signed his second contract. We had a horrid defensive coaching staff last year and if we didn't sign Dugger, we had very little at safety.

A weak player can’t be a power player.

Based on your imagination, not actual practice reports.

Has nothing to do with what he’s getting paid or cap savings, it has to do with are you planning on retaining this guy and paying him a new contract. Players and agents don’t begin negotiating when said player is a free agent, it begins with one year left on their prior deal. But you know this…

ridiculous. the team wants to win this year. they want the best players at every roster spot, regardless of current salary. especially players getting the most snaps. they want Strange to be great this year. he isn't. he most likely isn't the top back up. end of story. to blame him not playing well enough on the team being worried about his contract next year is the epitome of Wozzy being Wozzy.

And what does Strange want? He wants to play and prove he deserves a new contract. If the Patriots see Jared Wilson as the future Cole and his camp will likely make a stink and be a distraction. He will want to get cut or traded.

This is more a case of Rkrap needing to say “Strange sucks” than anything remotely realistic about how NFL contracts work.

in a perfect world this year, Strange is great and Wilson is pushing Bradbury at OC.
Strange is no where near great, not even adequate. the team determined that in week 1 of practice
top tie it to his contract makes zero sense
stop arguing that point. you are embarrassing yourself

Captain Agenda strikes again… typical contract negotiations and reality fall to the wayside when Rkrap has a point to make.

This is a lot like last season when you would announce weekly “the offensive line is improving” when clearly it wasn’t… but you said the free agent and rookie linemen were “good” in the offseason, so the rest of us had to ignore reality and pretend.

Strange is not good enough/healthy enough.
his contract, which is 100% guaranteed has zero to with his performance on the field

I just can't get a read on how Vrabel feels about Strange. Obviously it looks like Wilson is giving him a run for his money.

But is Strange getting a little bit of vet treatment perhaps because of his knee? No one is suggesting Bryant has passed Moses yet we bury Strange.

Despite what we all perceive as a demotion to Wilson the last week or so Strange was an off-season award winner. I don't know if you call it a captain but they sent him out for the coin toss today which is usually something Captains do during the season. And then late in the game when Lindstrom got dinged up it was interesting to see Strange out there and then for Vrabel to use a timeout just to spare him the snap and sent Lindstrom back out.

I think maybe they still like Strange and Wilson is ascending.
Agreed. The fact that Wilson has been the starter next to Campbell is showing Marrone and Vrabel believe he's the better player and gives the team the best option at LG..no knock on Strange at all.. Wilson has been impressive as a rookie strange likely makes the team as the reserve.. as he a veteran and has experience.

If Strange wasn't a first round pick he would be viewed the same way Robinson and Wallace are.

the facts are, the past 2 seasons, Strange has played parts of 13 games out of 34.
he went from a serviceable OG to a borderline player over the past 2 seasons.
if he was the same player he was in 2022, I believe he is the starter and Wilson is prepping to back up both spots and eventually being the full time OC.
unfortunately, Strange is not the same player.
I have to believe it is due to missed time, injuries taking their toll.
it has nothing to do with his contract, which is guaranteed regardless if he is on the team or not.

You being an agenda driven person is an every year occurrence.

Before a single practice snap, before the offseason began another poster started a thread titled “surprise cuts and trades” and I listed Cole Strange on there.

Was it because I looked into my crystal ball and saw Jared Wilson’s emergence? No, it’s the same way I create that list every offseason. Go to Spotrac or OTC and look at the list of free agents the following season and you’ll know who is at risk of being traded or cut this one. Simple… unless you have an agenda.

Not that I like him but gotta have V Lowe.

Not that I like him but gotta have V Lowe.
But that would be 11...I don't think that would happen. He might make it to the PS. Heck Jacobs probably would too.

If Strange wasn't a first round pick he would be viewed the same way Robinson and Wallace are.
Except that part where Strange is still running with the 1’s and 2’s at multiple positions including center…. and oh yeah, entering the final year of his contract.

Whereas Wallace and Robinson are locked into low cost mid round contracts for years to come and still aren’t playing good enough to start. Why doesn’t the vet Robinson have a leg up on rookie Wilson, never mind Strange… oh yeah, because he isn’t good enough.

Marcus Bryant and Trey Jacobs are better, unless we’ve been witnessing some mirage this offseason.
