Six Guards Entered Mini-camp Competing For Three Roster Spots

How much time does it take to sign a veteran OG as insurance against injury at that position? I suspect that the staff is fully capable of accomplishing this task in a day if the team were to so choose. It isn't totally about time.

How much time would it take to claim an OG off another's team should the team choose to do so? It isn't totally about time.
I know this will come as a shock to many posting on here, but just because a player was cut by another team that doesn’t mean they’re automagically better than players on the Patriots roster.

It takes time to find better players, to assimilate them and meld them into a cohesive team. Remember, winning football is about building teams not just collecting talent. Building a team takes time. Heck even building a good collection takes time.

And many might understand that there might be some free agent who is a better OG than Brown who would be our Game Day backup OG if there is an injury to Wilson or Wallace. And I do understand that folks have huge confidence in Wallace as our Game Day backup at LG and at RG.

Thread title sounds like a bad bar joke:

"Six interior linemen walk into a bar in Foxboro. On the counter are a glass of Remy Martin VSOP cognac, a glass of Macallan 18 year old highland single malt scotch, and a glass of Johnny Walker blue label.

The bartender says, 'Alas, gentlemen! I only have three drinks to serve, there for the taking. Who would like the first?'

Cole Strange says: 'I'd like them all, but my leg is acting up, and alcohol makes it worse. I'll pass.'

Sidy Sow says: 'I tried the Cognac in 2023, had a bad aftertaste in 2024. Macallan not my style. I'll pass.'

Layton Robinson says: 'I thought the Cognac was being reserved for me. If you're not keeping it just for me, I'll pass.'

Tyrese Robinson, Wes Schweitzer and Jack Conley all say: 'Light beer is our limit, this stuff is way over our heads. We'll pass.'

Efton Chism walks into the bar, says 'hey, those looks good', and walks out with all three."

Except that was Wallace who walked out with the drinks.

I see it more as a marathon rather than a sprint. Were able to get a quality LT and future center in 1 draft. I think we’ll be ok with Moses and Bryant who seemed to be a lucky hit at RT.

Going to into next years draft we have the good fortune of possibly going after 2 positions that aren’t premium targets so we should be able to get one of the top LG’s and another RT coming out, if it hasn’t been solved by then. 2026 is very strong at RT btw. And there is also FA as well.

This. 100%. OL was a total mess. Just going by what we can see now they hit on 2 starters and a swing tackle. That’s a great draft. Vrabel
and company are doing a great job with a rebuild but it takes time. Folks who were pounding the table that you either think this is a playoff team or you’re not a fan just got a bit ahead of themselves.

I don't think that it is pounding the table to want a 10th OL who is an emergency backup at OG.

As Andy suggesting months ago, one option is to have 2 OG's on the Practice Squad who are good enough to be elevated.
