Ecstatic. We nailed a very hard guy to sack all night. Probably nobody better in football at improvising when he's not worried about the risk.

I can't believe people are counting yards, I really can't . lol

Do people not believe what they saw and just read the stat sheets? Really freakin incredible.

As Mike Tomlin pointed out after the game, it's not remarkable for a team that's way behind to move the ball.

oooooookay bad timing i guess.

great win never mind. flowers and sparkledust, etc.

Stats dont always indicate just how the game went....

There is never a good time for your point that fans should be worried about the D for giving up 350 yards to Big Ben when the game was pretty much over after the 3rd quarter and the 4th was just about holding on to the lead, not worrying about stats

The Steelers got a bunch of garbage stats. We should be extremely pleased with our defense.

The numbers have absolutely no connection to how well the D played tonight. There was pressure on virtually every down. Ben R. is just huge and strong and I really believe any other QB might have been sacked 10 times. If anyone isn't satisfied with the defense's performance tonight, I'm not really sure what to say...

i'm very happy with tonight.

i seem to remember a very scarring sunday night about 12 months ago where soft second half defense against a team playing from way behind was a bit of a problem at the end there. but i guess that's just the D that BB calls when they're up.

great win no matter what. chung looks so good...

They do need to be a little less "loose" with the prevent. I just don't see that as enough to be unhappy with the overall performance.

Not sure of you guys not happy with the defense noticed we stopped their running game and put pressure on big ben all night. Also did you notice the stops we made inside the 10 when the game was close and forced them to kick fg's and they only came away with 3 pts.

Not having Ward, and some drops also had a lot to do with that as well, but the Pats D did step it up in the red zone and not letting them into the end zone was big

hell yes,I'm happy about the D.....good in the RZ,4th Q was the result of TOP and absolutely bizzaro officiating:rocker:

The defense played some dominating football tonight. The Steelers made their living in the second half when we got up by 20 and loosened up. So yeah, I'm very happy with the defense's performance tonight. And there aren't a lot of people who have been as critical as I have been about the defense going into the season. THIS is what I wanted to see. Any time you hold a two time Super Bowl winner under 100 yards and to 3 points going into halftime, you should be happy. If we play like we did tonight for the rest of the year, on both sides of the ball, we're absolutely lights out.

I absolutely loved the aggressive play calling and the blitzing. This is the first time this year the defense has been able to let loose and be aggressive.

I dont know if the Pats can go with this game plan next week because Manning gets the ball away quickly and that beats the blitz. But against other QBs I think this is the way the Pats need to approach games with their defense, being aggressive and getting to the QB

The 'drops' all involved a defensive player separating the recevier from the ball.

That's the perfect summary.

The hitting was ferocious. They actually got BR to the ground numerous times, Pitt's receivers paid a price all night long, and Mendenhall was stopped dead. How about Chung's hit at the end of the 1st qtr that stopped the guy short of the 1st down but they gave it to him anyway?

Best night of hitting by our D all year, they came to play.

Still were very catchable. I am not taking anything away from the Pats red zone and goal line D, they came up huge last night.

I'm happy with the D but I'm not too happy with the playcalling when the Pats have a lead. I don't udnerstand why the playcalling gets changed from what is working and allow the other team a glimmer of hope with TD drives in the fourth.

Call me a pessimist if you must however, I fell they could've continued the pressure on Roethlisberger like they did for most of the game in the 4th, caused a tournover or two and really drove a spike through their hearts.

Was this game in doubt ever, no, not really, did the D schemes preserve the win, yup it did, so why am I talking like this? Because I feel that this D can be special and needs to have that signature D win where they obliterate the competition. I think that would go far in showing the younger guys that they are really good and can be great if they listen to BB and his coaching.

Maybe I'm nit-picking.

To the OP:

this is what BB had to say at the post-game PC: “I thought for the most part we played pretty competitively on defense until the last couple of two minute drives, and then we really didn’t do a very good job on those."

But, he didn't sound too cross on the D.

I was happy with our D but admit that the familiar doom/gloom fears started to arise when they scored a quick TD early 4Q. However, felt easy after the interception/TD by Sanders. So, big thanks D.

I felt the defense was quite impressive last night. The Steelers got 18 yards on their first 18 plays. Except for one 34 yard run from Mendelhall, he was useless last night. The pass rush gave Roethlisberger fits. For the most part, both starting CBs had blanket coverage. Chung was all over the field. Mayo was a stud. So was Wright. The Pats defense were faster, tougher, and more physical than one of the faster, tougher, and more physical defenses.

This is a game if you look at the stats lines the next day and not actually watched the game, you would think it was a competitive game. Roethlisberger is the king of stat padding and he did a yoeman job of it last night.
