PATRIOTS NEWS Vrabel to speak with media today (4/21)

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
The problem is that he originally told the public that the photos show an innocent interaction. And that any speculation that it was more was "laughable."

Because he said this originally (it's laughable) to the public who said this romantic resort photos are a bad look, he owed the public an apology for that and for creating the circus for putting himself in this situation. What went on behind closed doors we don't know. But you can't tell the public the evidence is laughable and then not say your sorry for a bad situation you created for your family, the team and the organization

No apology, and from what he said originally, it comes off as dishonest when he said this was laughable.
He owes the public nothing. If he was running for politics and he made a possible conflicting quote then he would have to explain a little more in detail. Because he would need someone’s vote.
As long as he has the ownership and players vote and his behind closed doors explanation was sufficient with them. He is done with this personal matter of his. Now if it bothers you that much you can refuse to support the team. If enough people do that then Kraft would have to make a decision.
IMO, most fans like myself don’t give a ****. The others will forget all about it once we win our first game. Possibly if we have a good draft then that will suffice.
If your local HS teacher had an affair, nothing would have to be said other than to his wife. That teacher takes care of your children. This is football. He takes care of 6’4” 270 lb animals.

Yeah, I just read his quote out loud to my wife and she said the same, albeit with swear words and more anger.

I don't understand how so many posters downplayed the impact this would have on the team. I don't want to walk around denver with my pats hat on cause this **** is shameful.
How close were you to committing seppuku after Aaron Hernandez was arrested for murder?

The problem with this press conference is that it doesn’t put the issue to bed. It just creates more questions.

If he had the affair and admitted to it he could have said this would be the only time it would be addressed. Moving forward it’s all football. This press conference didn’t do anything.
What he said was perfect. You don’t know that he’s guilty of anything, you can assume and regardless, it’s noones business but between those involved. Can we get back to football and stop with the pearl clutching? Who cares about any of this, really?

For Russini, this is a professional matter because of the conflict of interest it exposes her to. For Vrabel, this is a personal matter. He's in a public-facing position so unfortunately for him he had to address is publicly, but I don't think he owes anymore than this to the media/team/fans/players. He cheated on his wife. That's really where the damage is - with his family.
What conflict of interest? Every insider tweet sounds like it's written by an agent or team front office because they are. Have we all forgotten that Shefter sent a GM a story, word for word, for approval prior to publishing? Rapsheet also admitted to doing the same.

Pretending, all of a sudden, that insiders are journalists or impartial is just ignorance.

You don't know what he did.

You just presume you know, or conclude you know, but you don't actually know.
I never said I knew what all he did. We do know that he was at a romantic resort with Russini, interlocking fingers, hugging and hanging out at the pool with her.

" He Owes Us, He's Shameful..."
Gimme a break Ladies, add a pad under your tampon if it's still leaking down your leg.
Go confess to your Priest that you once liked a President that "did not have sexual relations with that woman", until you had to hand wash her dress....and that you are ashamed of a football coach that doesn't go to church 6 days a week.

You'll feel better getting it off your chest, but if you hear weird noises, it's probably the priest trying to hide his laughter.

Given this, and given that Mike knows what he did, if he was just hanging out with an old friend then to him the conclusions other people are reaching and the resulting pearl-clutching reactions would be quite laughable.

Most of us have had a false accusation thrown at us at least once in our lives, so are familiar with that perspective.

If you haven't then I'd find your situation laughable, and wouldn't apologize for saying so.

To me it's amazing how a potentially false accusation has so much traction.

My take is that a whole lot of people want to moralize about other people's behavior so they latch on to the worst-case scenario and present it as gospel truth, then they can clutch their pearls and shake their heads going tsk, tsk and project their morally superior to onto others in their social circle.

I respect the beat reporters. But even with that respect, the majority of the sports reporters watch the game, write about it, go to the locker room or podium and get quotes handed to them and then put it out. That's kind of journalism for dummies, but that's fine. It's the job. And some of them do it really well.

There are a few real investigatory reporters in sports, who will dig beyond what is given to them, and usually their work is very good and goes beyond what you'd expect from sports reporting. That's as close to real journalism as you're going to get in sports.

But these people who are fed things by agents or GMs and are just puppets on TV or social media... I guess it has a place in the sports media, but I don't consider them journalists.

I wasn't too worried about this whole issue until today... But I am very disappointed.
Everyone can act with bravado about our culture's digression into infidelity as the norm, or that celebrity earns you the right to be adulterous without loss of virtue. But Vrabel has always presented his value and character as the one to hold a standard and to follow as a family-first, trustworthy and loyal organization.
His vapid statement today absolutely infers that he is guilty of more than just ill-advised contact. That was a cowardice way to not take accountability (as he preaches) and by not denying anything inappropriate, he essentially confirmed his guilt. The fact that rich and influential people do this a lot does not minimize the effect it has on the family that it hurts. And when your family life is fractured, your work life suffers. That's the full circle nature of this.
Digression? Infidelity rates are actually down not up. Do you really believe this wasn’t happening in the 70’s? Come on now.

It appears that Mike Vrabel has a great degree of loyalty and respect for his team and I believe that his loyalty and respect is reciprocated.

As a longtime Patriot Fan, I also feel a certain degree of loyalty to Mike Vrabel for taking a our team which was in absolute shambles and changing it back to respectability in 1 Year. I don't know what Vrabel did at that hotel and nobody here knows for sure either. One thing that I believe we all can be sure of is that he didn't kill anyone, molest anyone, commit child abuse, rape anyone, rob anyone, or commit any heinous act whatsoever. Therefor, I like a lot of people here believe that whatever happened at that hotel is his and his families business and not mine.

Some of the "holier than thou" comments about Vrabel tend to piss me off a little but I suppose as the great Philosopher "Roseanne Roseannadanna once said "it's always something"

Agreed.

Flipside, I don’t care that Jerod Mayo os a great family man. I can’t stand the guy because he royally and spectacularly made my favorite team an embarrassment while blaming everyone but himself.

Also I personally know a lot of high-performing leaders…some folks here would be stroked out to learn what goes on in their private lives.

Pressure needs a release valve. That valve looks very different from person to person.
