Even without Von, I don't think the Broncos are going to be worse than the Jags. Trevor Lawrence is most likely going to Jacksonville.

This would actually have been a great year for the Patriots to tank. And the problem with the 76ers was that the players they took didn't work out, not that they tanked. The tanking actually worked.
Hell you could argue the problem was that new management changing course mid tank is what screwed them. That’s typically the worst part of it, the continuity. You lose too much and set up for the future.... then ownership gets antsy and jettisons it all for someone new who didn’t share the long term vision and it’s all for nought. That was a big problem for years with the Browns. Lack of stability killed long term rebuilding.

Bill is probably the one guy who would credibility survive a tank.

Feel bad for Denver. Team feels like they got there QB. Thinks they have a promising WR, a good young RB, and a one, two, punch of Chubb and Miller on defense and literally right before the season they lose the best player on the team.

Chiefs were running with that division anyways, but Denver was hungry for some improvement.

It’s kind of underrated but that team had only 6 losing seasons from 1977 to 2016 (39 years). Then the last 3 years they had 3 back to back losing seasons. For a city that is just all about the Broncos, you can tell that’s been a hell for them. Losing Von really could be a massive set back that gives them a 4th losing season in a row. Consider that ownership has been a **** show since Pat Bowlen died and it hasn’t been a pretty time.

Sucks for Miller, great player and a "good guy". Chubb still isn't healthy yet and may miss a few games at the start of the year.

He has an option year coming up, the Broncos have until March 9, 2021 to pick it up, if they do he plays for one more year at $18 million, if they don't they save $18 million in cap space and take a dead money hit of rought $4.1 million.

Miller will be 32 next year, coming off an injury. Not certain that the Broncos pick up that option. Also a new wrinkle, call it the "Donte Stallworth Anti-BB Rule" a player whose club declines to pick up his option, will not count as a UFA lost in the comp pick formula.

Bottomline, I think Miller has played his last snap for the Broncos.

that is a ROUGH hit for that team...

I dropped the Broncos defense in fantasy football and picked up the Buccs after reading this news... Broncos have a solid D, but losing a top 5-10 NFL player in Miller is going to prevent them from being elite

I’d never want the team I root for to tank for a shot at one player, regardless of how highly rated he is. The combined (1) probability you get the pick (2) likelihood the player becomes a star (3) sending a « message of losing » (see 76ers) - it’s just a bad mix.
You really have to suck really really bad to even get a shot at a game changing draft pick. Sucking a lot is not enough. Look at da Jete. We all know they suck, but they end up drafting sixth or so, not good enough. Then when they end up sixth they take a safety not a QB, and left Mahomes and Watson on the board. Trubisky came off the board second, which shows even if you tank and burn draft capital to move up you can still make a big mistake.

How the Bears GM still has a job is beyond me. Remember he traded up from 3 and still passed on both Watson and Mahomes...

Actually it wouldn't. If Bill loses games on purpose to put the Pats at the bottom of the standings he would be fired and his legacy tainted by it and rightfully so on both counts. Then we can watch our team actually suck for real. Yay?

Bill would never lose games on purpose...The closest he ever came here was the final game of the 2005 season...But he has assembled a bad roster, so the losses will come naturally...Playing the kids to see what he has in them isn't the same as tanking...

Thanks for that. Sounds like there’s a good chance for “Foxborough, here I come” next year. It’s a classic BB move given the facts you lay out. And while the draw of Brady being on the team is gone, BB still has a strong appeal to a lot of the defensive players out there. He was able to lure defensive guys before Brady was Brady. And BB loves going after guys he has to game plan around or foil his game plan, and Miller definitely fits that category.

Bill did hit on a punter in recent years...............which is nice. The team’s future low expenditure franchise tag candidate.

Any other foundation pieces from last few drafts?

Wynn has managed to play in 25% of his games in 2 years

We got a nice guard from the 2016 draft
