We're kind of getting away from the point, which is that the NFL should in theory have a social obligation due to the capital provided it by the public, such as these:
....
Again, this makes absolutely no sense. They would then be taxed on the money they kept rather than gave, and Roger Goodell's paycheck would be lower regardless. Tax exempt status doesn't really help the owners, but it does help pad the pockets of the NFL's executives who serve as their mouthpieces and fall guys in situations like the current one.
Again, this makes absolutely no sense.
You are arguing that the owners hand money to Godell because that is better for them than keeping it. The alternative isn't to throw the money in the street. It is to pay him less and have the teams keep that money. Surely each team would rather keep a million and be taxed on it than hand it to someone to be taxed on it.
Uisng a ficticous 40% tax bracket you are saying the owners would rather give 1mill each to Godell instead of paying in and using 400,000 of it to pay taxes and keep the remianing 600,000. There is no logic whatsoever in that.
Anyone watch the Dr Phil episode today? The talked about Ray Rice and domestic violence but no talk about Adrian Peterson.
