From Reiss:

Wanted them, but didn't get them: The Patriots put in waiver claims on rookie cornerback Marcus Cooper (49ers) and rookie defensive tackle Chris Jones (Texans), but other teams with higher priority in the waiver order were awarded them.

Marcus Cooper was the Rutgers DB that got away immediately following the draft. BB really did want to re-unite that family.

And Chris Jones was someone I was going to suggest we tried to pick up when we only had three DTs on the 53. Good penetrating DT who had plenty of sacks for Bowling Green last year.

They are a couple of names worth keeping an eye out for future transactions

Bill, enough with the Rutgers grads already.

Ohh man I sincerely hope every Rutgers grad this year becomes an above a everage pro, just so bill can troll us all some more

Marcus Cooper was drafted by the 49ers in the 7th round, 252nd overall.

This is the price the New England Patriots pay for pissing away draft picks for Chad "Ochostinko" Johnson and Albert "fat lazy arse" Haynesworth.

It was the peeing away of second and third round picks that really hurt. A recent example would be the drafting of S. Tavon Wilson instead of CB Casey Hayward. Hayward would have gone a long way toward shoring up a leaky secondary, "According to Pro Football Focus, opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of 31.1 against him, the lowest against any corner in the league"

How soon before we say this about Maryland?

Although I'll be happy if it includes Stefon Diggs.

Nope,Penn State will be the next Belichick love fest draft school because of O'Brien

You're awfully quick on the trigger to declare Tavon Wilson a bust. High quality safeties do not emerge in the NFL until their third or fourth year. See: Ranking the NFL's Top 10 Safeties Not Named Troy Polamalu or Ed Reed | Bleacher Report

It's easy for people to declare their draft idea better in hindsight. i wonder how their other draft picks would have fared too. Especially in BB's philosophy/system.

Wasted effort to complain in my opinion. These are our guys, win or lose.

Yes, enough with adding players who were a part of a top 10 College defense. The GALL of the man..

Umm.. you do realize that the Pats have added two Maryland products and no Penn State products.. .Despite O'Brien being there..

I dunno. BB seems to have an un-natural love this year for young, lithe, "tight" players.

All your Rutgers player are belong to us

All your Rutgers player are belong to us

In the same way that Penn is called "Linebacker U" and BYU and Purdue are "Quarterback U", will Rutgers get called "Patriots U"?

it's only the first year, when BO'B's recruits start declaring we'll be drafting them.
