How dare you question the veracity of our cap guru, Miguel...
I would never cast any doubt on the great and magnificent @Miguel .

What price a Super Bowl? I think the addition of Mr. Williams really increases the chances. Have weakness, have a solution. They would have to find a way to make it doable capwise. LT is a pricey position. You can't toss pennies at it as the team managed to do last year. On the downside, he does have an injury history, but there is no better LT in the league. Makes more sense than, say, paying big money to go after Kyle Rudolph.
Several members already expressed the fact that financial restraints are a real issue.
Please also expand on the idea that the team tossed pennies last year...
Here's the thing: Trent Williams might be the best LT in the league and reportedly a good locker room guy. We don't hear about him because he plays for such a dumpster fire of a team in DC. There are just 5 negatives keeping him from becoming a Patriot.
1. He's under contract for the next 2 years at $27MM
2. We have $6MM in cap space.
3. He was suspended twice for PED issues
4. It would cost a first round pick
5. They AREN'T going to trade him
But outside of those few minor impediments, trading for Williams would DEFINITELY solve any lingering OT questions the Pats have.
Here's a guy who's making $13.5MM/yr NOW. He just saw a guy who isn't NEARLY as good as he is get close to $17MM/yr (Trent Brown)The Redskins are in rebuilding mode. If the right offer arrives for a 31 year old that wants out, they will discuss it.

THEN you have explain to me how 6 equals 13.5. After that, sure, we can make a deal.
No.LT Trent Williams is set to make $11 million this year. He's got two years left on his contract. BB, give the Redskins an offer they can't refuse.
Jay Gruden hopes Trent Williams returns
They're not going to do either. What price a Super Bowl? I think the addition of Mr. Williams really increases the chances. Have weakness, have a solution. If the $4.9 million is correct, there is very little room to maneuver.
It took them a couple of weeks but the NFLPA finally matches mine

Very interesting to see 2 teams that went to the playoffs last season and have a lot of buzz for this one, with so much cap space (Colts/Texans)It took them a couple of weeks but the NFLPA finally matches mine

Trent Brown, who played solidly for us but is far from a star, got a stunning $66M over 4 years from the Raiders. Trent Williams is a star OT, and I assume he will want a new contract, how much is he going to want? HINT: More than the Pats can afford even with some financial sleight of hand.

And at about $5MM, the Pats have one of the lowest cap space numbers.
Finally one question. It has been widely speculated that Brady's expect contract extension CAN'T be finalized until August. Is that true?
OK here's another. Given your familiarity with how the Pats have handled Brady's past extensions. What is your best guess at the structure and how much cap space can be created (if any)?
