What price a Super Bowl? I think the addition of Mr. Williams really increases the chances. Have weakness, have a solution. They would have to find a way to make it doable capwise. LT is a pricey position. You can't toss pennies at it as the team managed to do last year. On the downside, he does have an injury history, but there is no better LT in the league. Makes more sense than, say, paying big money to go after Kyle Rudolph.

Trent Brown, who played solidly for us but is far from a star, got a stunning $66M over 4 years from the Raiders. Trent Williams is a star OT, and I assume he will want a new contract, how much is he going to want? HINT: More than the Pats can afford even with some financial sleight of hand.

I'm not saying that the following is in the cards, but it seems the likeliest avenue to take if there's any actual interest here:

To get Williams, the Patriots would probably have to go higher with the draft pick in order to get the Redskins to make a contract adjustment that would have them taking on most of the salary.

I'll take a Top 5 LT in the league with 2 years left on his contract ANY DAY. He's only being paid 11 and 12 mill over the next two season too - which isn't nearly as bad in modern day contracts. We are pretty loaded with draft capital next year as well, so I would be willing to give up a 2nd, even if a 3rd doesn't get it done. Williams is a better LT than Solder or Brown, and would easily give us a Top 5 OL once again - something we really need with an older Brady.
