I think everyone overlooks Nick Caserio's contribution to this team. When Pioli was here, all the personnel moves were credited to Bill and Scott. Since Caserio took over the same role as Pioli had, Belichick gets all the credit (granted considering some of the complaining on certain moves, Caserio might be happy to defer all the credit to Belichick). It is nice to see someone in the media give Caserio his due.

I'm a huge Caserio fan. He's much more than just a "front office guy" and he's dreamy too.

Caserio is going to make someone an OUTSTANDING GM one day (hopefully it will be the Pats). There are very few guys who have the kind of mulit-level experience that he's had since he came into the league. He's done it all in the scouting department, as a coach, and lately as a contract and cap guy. He has also gotten to see "team building" at it's best over the last 14 years, and I think that is THE most difficult thing for a GM to do well consistently. More that any other professional sport, football requires just as much "chemistry" as talent to create winners

Next time you come to TC, take the time to watch Caserio work with the players (usually receivers). You'll find the interaction interesting

As long as Caserio has the typical "patriot ego" we have a chance to keep him long term. Clearly, at least so far, Kraft and BB have done a good job of keeping him feeling important. I'm hoping that He and McDaniels will be satisfied to wait another 2-5 years before BB decides to hang them up, and it will be the Josh and Nick show, just like in college. Won't THAT be something.

Caserio has already been extended through 2020. It would appear that he is the heir apparent.

Speaking of Josh.... I like him a lot, but he has many detractors outside of NE. I heard he did a long of things wrong in Denver to piss people off. Do you know if he has a great relationship with the Patriots front office?

No idea, but remember, Josh was a 33-34 year old during his time in Denver. I'll never forget his obnoxious fist pumps when he beat BB. Clearly he's changed since then.

Not trying to open a pandora's box here and hijacking the thread altogether, but i don't trust McD to takeover. Actually, IMHO, Patricia may be better as a future (very far away future,hopefully) substitute for BB

The day of the inconsequential last game of the season against Buffalo it was announced how he signed a contract extending him through the 2020 season. That was GREAT news. Keeping Caserio long-term was very underrated (and underreported) news.


Other than that, every time I see him I think of Lady Elaine Fairchilde.

Caserio not only coaches, he watches film and he's a spare arm in preseason. The guy has studied every aspect of football under the direct tutelage of BB. Few GMs, if any, have had the breadth and depth of NFL exposure that Caserio has had. The only thing Caserio lacks is experience with other teams and systems.

I know. Belichick is the GOAT of second chances for NFL Coaches. No dispute there my friend!

Believe me, I want McDaniels to be a successful head coach - even if he doesn't stay around long enough to take over for Belichick. But some of the stories about his personal traits kinda raises eyebrows, and I wonder if he would be able to thrive with the responsibilities that Belichick has

Nothing against McDaniels personally.Hs's a great OC and my favorite contender for Head Coach, but he has to learn from his mistakes before taking over the reins...and I mean really really learn lol

How about some much overdue disrespect to Scott Pioli. I'm not saying he's not a great GM, but come on, he was rated the #1 GM for the 2000s (I think it was by ESPN or SI or both) throughout all four major sports. Clearly that was a huge reach; his success was bolstered to an enormous degree by Belichick.

I think that since Caserio replaced Pioli as Belichick's right hand man in evaluating talent, the Patriot drafts have improved measurably.
