Tom Brady's agent says he plans to play this year and for many more years

The question is CAN he? So far, he seems to still be playing like the GOAT. I mean, if the Super Bowl is an indication.

Brady's not the type of guy that will come out and say it's his last year but I think it is. Too much smoke around NE to not have any fire.

If they trade up for a QB (and I mean using both 1st round picks to move up), it definitely is because you are willing to set the team back for a year for a QB. I still don't understand why Schefter keeps going at it about trading both picks for a QB as it just doesn't make any sense for the team this year.

I still believe they go defense and OT with both 1st round picks or if both Tackles are gone it will be CB and LB.

A made up story is STILL a made up storyline, regardless of how much "smoke" it makes.

The fact that this story lasted as long as it did is a testament to how low sports media, in general, has sunk. The really sad thing is that there will be zero consequences for all the drama that didn't exist over this time. The mediots will simply move on to the next fake narrative and when that blows up in their faces they will just double down on the next one. In our case, it will be the Gronk "saga" which will go on until the Pats pay him more or he shows up for all his mandatory obligations. A literal forest of internet trees were decimated for nothing.

This was after Malcolm Butler made the play to win the Super Bowl, right? He didn’t seem to play much in the last Super Bowl, which seems weird. Has that been discussed at all?

I think I remember reading some comments in a short thread here, somewhere.

You could be right but this reminds me a lot of what happened in SF when people were in denial with the wheels coming off during the Harbaugh years. Deon Sanders took a lot of heat when he broke news about it and he turned out to be right.

This is a good example of the stopped watch analogy. Twice a day it tells the right time. This is what I hate about sports "journalism" these days. These guys will take any possible narrative, and eventually, it starts to get treated like the truth. When it usually breaks down against the forces of reality there is ZERO accountability. However on those rare occasions when it turns out to be true, massive chest pounding will be heard. So why NOT make it up as you go along when there is no consequences for it.

Brady's in his 40s now. Nobody's in denial about this. We all understand that we've got, at most, 20-30 years of his greatness left.

I didn't specify what I was comparing it to. I meant to compare what was going on in SF to that there could be problems in NE. People were in denial, especially 9ers fans about what was really going on in SF.

I guess the question is then, why is the media coming out with these stories now?

Pretty much everything being discussed is just people reading tea leaves, and not basing things on concrete comments and/or actions. Focusing on his musings has been a nice bit of offseason chatter, but Brady's only actual comment about his future was that he plans to play for years to come.

Seriously, his kid plays soccer, right?

He can grow up to be a kicker, and Tom can play with his son! Like Gordie Howe...

wake me up when Brady is back...so I can tell all of you I was right...

The solution is simple: stop giving the ass clowns any of your attention.

Stop listening to WEEI and the Sports Hub entirely. Download podcasts that have sane media members on them.

As noted this story got so much mediot inflation even respectable podcasts had some coverage of it. The solution for me was easy: Skip over the parts where they talked through this nonsense, or just delete the entire episode.

Basically I won't believe anything of these stories till I hear it out of the athlete's mouth, and even then I have my doubts that these guys will walk away from millions of dollars. None of this matters till Game 1 and that's months away.
