Tom Brady says he's done "for good"

Brady was all-pro six times when you include second team. We’re into the real hair splitting when your argument is he was #2 and not #1, and it’s often argumentative at that point about who was better. Meanwhile, he has been #1 on NFL Top 100 (voted by players) 4 times in the 12 years it’s been on. No one else has finished #1 multiple times. Anyway, it’s sheer silliness to pick apart his standing the way these idiots are doing, citing the volume of awards and honors when he’s been regarded as the very best playing, or arguably the very best, for almost a quarter of a century.
Hasn't he been in 2 All Decade teams? That says it all.

I just feel Faulk would be a better fit for a team with a bunch of egos would have the GOAT receiving crew off all time throwing the ball 40 times a game. Thats it. White was great. We can disagree on who would fit better.
It's like picking between two Playboy Playmates....

It would have been an easy extension at the time for 2 years/ 50M. They would have avoided the $12.5M hit in 2020 and been able to sign both Brady and Thuney or McCourty and probably could have signed all three with a little creativity. Reminder, they had a zillion dollars for the 2021 cap (and could have backloaded contracts to account for that) but it's okay...we didnt' get Brady but we wouldn't have signed Henry, Smith, Bourne and Agholor for $50M annually and probably would have gone 0-17 because we didn't have them.
All you had to do was give Brady a $25M signing bonus, add a few void years and it would've been done, and like you said have enough to keep Thuney w/ a little creativity. Then in '21 w/ those weapons, Pats are contenders.

1) I believe him
2) I want to thank him
3) i wish him joy and happiness from here on out.

Evans or Welker. Probably Evans though.
I’ll take a prime Welker over evans any day. At the end of the day Evans ain’t going to be considered the GOAT Anything

The gap between KFaulk and White isn't nearly what you are making it out to be.

White was a better receiver and just as good of a pass blocker/blitz pickup.
He wasn't that much better.

Also, Kevin Faulk could, you know, be a lead back as well, fought through contact. I mean, I forget KFaulk's career pre-Brady sometimes too, but that dude was such an important piece. There's a reason that guy got contract after contract to stay here.

100%
The people saying Bill went all in for more rings and ran out of cap to re-sign Tom, are the same ones that claim the '21 cap would've gone from $62M to $12M had we signed him. IOW, they have no idea how the cap actually works.
Let's remember too that Belichick had a boat load of ****ing cash money to spend before the 2020 season, and he spent like a drunken sailor, set offseason records in spending IN FACT, not all wisely mind you (that's another topic altogether but I've derailed the thread enough for Christ's sake) but he SPENT it and merely two years later the team is basically resetting AGAIN after a completely lost season where no less than your number one franchise asset regressed after he was basically setup to fail by those directly responsible for putting him in the best position to succeed... sigh

************ all i've been saying is KFaulk and White are 1A and 1B. Each has strengths.

If the choice is between:
Evans
Welker
Jules
Moss

Or:
AB
Welker
Jules
Moss

I would go with:
Evans
AB
Welker or Jules
Moss

That receiver corp would be unstoppable w/ Tommy under center. Welker & Jules are the same type of receivers.

I'm saying it's impossible to have a staff deep enough to deal with the number of guys Josh took, can't plan for that.
Why not? BB should be able to anticipate most things by now, including having a pulse on where things may be heading with his coaching staff, which is his primary domain. This sounds a little like excuse making for BB, which typically I don't notice you doing. Regardless of any of this, the real probably with the coaching staff was the individuals BB handpicked to implement a new offense.

Not exactly sure what you're talking about but if I'm gathering 4 of those WRs in their prime with Brady in his prime then it would be...

Moss
Evans
AB
Welker

That would be the most insane WRs 1-4 ever.

It's not an excuse, it's just a fact. Just because you might have a bead on who may or may not be leaving (and I'm sure out of all of those guys, there were likely at least one or more he might have been caught off guard by), it doesn't make it less challenging.

Obviously, most people agree that players win games. But at the same time, replacing players is still easier than replacing coaches.

Regarding Kevin Faulk and James White, they were virtually the same player regarding production averages, but White had the higher volume (of snaps and targets) in a shorter period of time. Also, White's 2018 season pretty much blows away any other single season from either player. If I had to pick one then it would be White.

Is that true? When you add in the importance of the individual (player vs coach), the top end of your 53 is more important than any coach except for perhaps the coordinators. This would seem to make replacing players harder because they're more impactful.

Coaches are the ones who control the game planning, preparation, all the little details, etc. It's also a numbers thing. You've got 53 players per roster x 32 teams. Most coaching staffs are obviously much smaller. Not to mention - as we've seen, there are often even fewer good coaches collectively among that smaller group. So no where near as many coaches out there for replacements compared to players.

I can remember hearing there was cracks in the foundation back in 2015 when she wanted him to step away then due to concerns about concussions..
Fine

All Brady had to say was hang on for just 2 more months and I am done. Brady didn't because the door is open to comeback that's why.
