Patriots Injury News Thornton injury update

The injury probably had nothing to do with his weight. But looking at him on the field, he really does need to put on weight which I don't think is impossible. It all comes down to eating/training. I have the similar "ectomorph" body type at 6'3 with a medium size frame. If I really want to put on weight/muscle, it will only happen if I eat enough which is a pain in the azz because I need a lot of calories and healthy foods contain hardly any calories. Some guys just don't want to go through the process.

Me and My brother were trying to come up with a comp the other day and I suggested she might be a good comparison.

Wasn't that reference because Glenn missed the first six games of his rookie season?

It might make him feel slow.

Parcells had a grudge towards Glenn as he didn't want him, but wanted to draft Tony Brackens. I've heard Cedric Jones as well, but he was already taken so that doesn't make sense. When he got injured in camp, Parcells referred to him as "she" to the media.

Interesting claim

Ok average.

Even though I disagree on that, adding rookie Terry Glenn to this crew makes it pretty pretty good.

And this is only what if....

Why you say that? Are you just waiting until games are played or do not believe Parker lifts them above average?

Do a quick exercise, just using the AFC, in order to save time. Slot the Patriots WRs against the rest of the conference.

It does make sense about Cedric Jones because Kraft assured Parcells the Patriots could take Jones at that slot.

When Jones was taken, Parcells wanted to trade down 3 slots and take Brackens.

That's when the blowup happened.

Parcells ended up loving Glenn, obviously brought him to Dallas.

That's the kind of exercise that we USED to do 20 years ago. For 20 years we have been a successful and competitive team with just 'good' WR. Assuming that Bourne comes back from his little snit, we will have a good group of WR's to throw to Aghular, Bourne, Parker, and Meyers are a decent group of receiver whom we have see get open and catch balls this preseason. They are a better group than last season. Its a shame Thornton got hurt, but sh!t happens. It opens up a chance for a guy like Humphrey. Eventually we shall see, we are all just speculating at this point.

BTW- While all of use are whining about the possibility of losing good prospect on the 31, lets remember that there will be 31 OTHER teams that will be going through the same thing. The 31st will be awash with EXCELLENT prospects as it is every year. Every team will be cutting NFL quality players, and then scrambling to sign them to their PS. We are NOT alone in this.

I have a question pertaining to this. Can a player who is claimed on waivers, just say "no thank you" Or do they HAVE to go that team? I think eventually the league will expand the roster number and say allow the team to protect 4 or 5 players that they want on the PS

The investigators said it's best to leave this one unsolved.
You can't really dust for vomit.

It just goes to show Coaches make make mistakes in rating players and dodged a bullet on Jones. Brackens was a beast though. Although Glenn had nagging injuries, he was still regarded as one of the best WR's in the game for a few years.

By the way, McGinest could've gotten that label as "she" as he kept tapping out of games during the Carrol years.

My quick exercise. I reviewed each of the AFC top 3 WR and I got to 6 that I definitely considered better and couple that were debatable. I tried to err on the side of the other team. That puts us right about average to better than average.

We do need to see them play in real games though. Parker is the only addition now and he can't be relied upon. Bourne is a major concern. Their WR's could turn ugly quick if Bourne is traded and Parker is injured.

One thing that makes this site so fun is all the snarky posts about how bad we are at team building, and at the same time, people sobbing over cutting the 54th best player on the squad.

If we're having a hard time cutting down the team it means we have a lot of talent on the team, or maybe the fans think more of certain players than the people coaching and evaluating those players for a living do.

I have a question pertaining to this. Can a player who is claimed on waivers, just say "no thank you" Or do they HAVE to go that team?
The team that claims the player has their rights, and the terms are the same ones as the player's current contract. The new team is giving that player game checks once they claim them, so of course they expect the player to report. The player can refuse to report to that team but that subjects them to the usual fines for not reporting. If the team wants to open the roster spot, they can move them to the reserve list with the "reserve/did not report" designation and the player will just sit in that state till they do report or retire.

Also if the team is sick of the standoff they can either trade the rights (if someone else decides they want him and will give up something to get him) or put him on waivers again (which repeats the cycle, starting with the worst team first getting the option to claim the player).

In the real world, what I think happens is once a player hits the waiver wire the team reaches out to the player's agent and asks a whole bunch of questions, one of which is will this guy play for us or not, before they claim the player. It's a big waste of time to claim someone who isn't going to report. You might as well skip over that player and look for one who will.

I think eventually the league will expand the roster number and say allow the team to protect 4 or 5 players that they want on the PS
I think four are protected already?

Come on, now. The Patriots have the worst group in their own division. They'd be no higher than 4th if they moved to the AFCW (the Chiefs would be in 5th, as of now). That puts them behind 6 right there, and we haven't even gotten to the AFCN or AFCS yet.

How many times are we going to beat this drum? It is subjective. We will see.

Fan#1's first post - The Patriots suck - they need speed! So much speed!

Patriots draft the fastest WR in the draft (in addition they upgrade speed across the team)

Fan#1's second post - Thornton is too skinny - he'll always be injured and suck. He needs to put on weight.

So draft speed, but it's not the "right guy" with speed - and you do realize that if he bulks up he'll likely slow down right????

The misery is strong with these ones...
