Patriots captains as voted on by team today & told to team after practice: Rob Gronkowski, Devin McCourty, Matthew Slater, Dont'a Hightower.

Shows how far our Gronk has come. Who would have seen this a few years ago. And as deserving as he is, I still can't help laughing about it. Well done, Gronk.

Can't imagine how mad this makes Brady. Has he ever not been a captain?

Not at the team may I add. I am thinking more, burn goodells house to ground, mad.

May I add how excited I am to see scorched earth Brady in week 5? We might drop a 100 on Cleveland.

I suspect he and Ninkovich will be added after their suspensions are over. Normally there are six captains, not four.

Has the team ever had so few captains? I think this set up is intentional -- to make sure the team realizes that Brady isn't walking through that door the next 4 games. And then when Brady comes back for week 5 he'll be added as a captain.

[EDIT] Too slow on the draw, BelichickFan and ctpatsfan77 beat me to the punch.

I agree. I just love the idea of Brady seething for something inconsequential as this.

I imagine they will add Brady as Captain when he returns from suspension.

I think it's cool that Gronk is a captain. Kinda speaks to what the coaches and his teammates think of him as a leader.

Gronk has come a long ways.

Hightower being a captain was stirring for months now. He actually took Mayo's locker, which has some legendary occupants.

“Dont’a Hightower was given Jerod Mayo’s old locker, the one in the corner closest to the exit,” Price writes in his weekly notes. “That real estate has some history: When Gillette Stadium first opened in 2002, that was the exclusive domain of Willie McGinest, who used the spot to keep a close eye on everyone who was coming and going.”

^^^^those are some door keepers

Very happy for Hightower and Gronkowsky. Those two are the biggest warriors on either side of the ball. Health is the key, but we have a really good team and with the muddle of the AFC we may end up looking like alltime great.

Congrats to all the Captains well deserved
