When accounting peak play as a Patriot what are the players you would select for base offense, base defense, and special teams for 2019's NFL and modern rules/tactics?

Do you go 3 WR 1 RB 1 TE for your base offense?

QB: Tom Brady
RB: Corey Dillon/Dion Lewis/Kevin Faulk/Danny Woodhead/Shane Vereen/James White
WR: Randy Moss/Wes Welker/Julian Edelman/Troy Brown/Deion Branch/Danny Amendola/Brandin Cooks/Josh Gordon
TE: Rob Gronkowski/Aaron Hernandez/Martellus Bennett/Ben Watson/Daniel Graham
T: Matt Light/Nate Solder/Trent Brown/Sebastian Vollmer/Marcus Cannon/Nick Kaczur
G: Logan Mankins/Joe Thuney/Joe Andruzzi/Stephen Neal/Shaq Mason/Brian Watees
C: Dan Koppen/David Andrews/Damien Woody

Defense... do you go 3-4, 4-3.. or 3-3-5, 4-2-5 etc? Some guys could play as a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB...

DL: Vince Wilfork/Richard Seymour/Ty Warren/Willie McGinest/Akiem Hicks/Alan Branch/Jarvis Green/Ted Washington/Rob Ninkovich/Chandler Jones/Trey Flowers
LB: Tedy Bruschi/Mike Vrabel/Willie McGinest/Dont'a Hightower/Jamie Collins/Jerod Mayo/Roman Phifer/Rosevelt Colvin/Rob Ninkovich/Chandler Jones/Kyle Van Noy
S: Lawyer Milloy/Rodney Harrison/Devin McCourty/Patrick Chung
CB: Ty Law/Asante Samuel/Aqib Talib/Darrelle Revis/Stephon Gilmore

ST: Matthew Slater/Nate Ebner/Larry Izzo/Matt Chatham
K: Adam Vinatieri/Stephen Gostkowski
P: Josh Miller/Ryan Allen/?
R: Kevin Faulk/Troy Brown/Wes Welker/Julian Edelman/Danny Amendola/Dion Lewis/Cordarrelle Patterson/?

I'd probably go with:

QB: Tom Brady
RB: Dion Lewis
WR: Randy Moss
WR: Wes Welker
WR: Julian Edelman
TE: Rob Gronkowski
LT: Matt Light
LG: Logan Mankins
C: Dan Koppen
RG: Shaq Mason
RT: Marcus Cannon

3-3-5 Defense:

LE: Ty Warren
NT: Vince Wilfork
RE: Richard Seymour
LB: Tedy Bruschi
LB: Mike Vrabel
LB: Dont'a Hightower
S: Rodney Harrison
S: Devin McCourty
CB: Ty Law
CB: Stephon Gilmore
CB: Darrelle Revis

Toughest omissions on defense were Lawyer Milloy, Jerod Mayo, Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, Willie McGinest, Roman Phifer.

ST: Matthew Slater
K: Adam Vinatieri
P: Ryan Allen
R: Kevin Faulk

Gilmore
Law

Harrison
McCourty

Etc
Etc

Do you go 3 WR 1 RB 1 TE for your base offense?

No, I'm going with two TEs as my base:

Moss/Welker
Dillon
Gronk/Hernandez

Edelman, Develin, and either Faulk or Lewis (Depending upon ferocity of that week's opposing pass rush) would be the top skill player situational subs off the bench.

Also, just looking at your offense two players deep, I'd take

Vollmer over Solder at LT
Neal over Mason over Thuney at OG (this is obviously subject to change over time)
Woody over Koppen at C

But making the All-Brady era team has the inherent difficulty of basically having to choose between players who were in 3 wildly different offensive styles, so differences may hinge on the perspective of the offense as much as on the perception of the players, so I can see a whole lot of reasonable variance at the top.

To omit Willie McG is to ignored his (1) big play ability and (2) leadership.

Whether he “fits your base” or not : Willie is a winner. I want the winner.

How does one put Revis in there based on 1 year but leaves Malloy out?

If you're counting Revis non patriot years then you can go ahead and count Milloys non brady years.

Mccourty has been great but milloy a legend.

Unpopular opinion(maybe?)

I would not put Logan Mankins on any all-time team. He screwed us with penalties in big games often.

Probably the worst take ever, so yeah.

Probably the worst take ever, so yeah.

Explain.

Before Logan Mankins: 5 SBs, 3 SB wins
During Logan Mankins: 2 SBs, 0 Wins
Since Logan Mankins: 4 SBs, 3 Wins

QB: Tom Brady (wait why is JimmyG not an option?:D)
RB: Corey Dillon - Lets take the guy who rushed for 1600 yards.
WR: Randy Moss/Wes Welker/Josh Gordon
TE: Rob Gronkowski

That offense would literally be undefendable. Arguably the worst player is the guy with 2nd most yards/game in a season in NFL history .

Welker wins over Edelman, because all of the stats say Welker is better(heart will always belong to Edelman though :p). Also, feel he is more of a slot receiver that complements Moss and Gordon.

Since the post assumes "peak play", we can ignore Gordon's issues.

With Dillon as the RB, you can't switch out LBs for smaller DBs or you will get run over. Especially with Gronk as a blocker. And if you keep your big LBs in how to you defend against Moss/Gordon/Welker/Gronk?

LT: Matt Light/Nate Solder/Trent Brown - any of these is probably fine, 2 of them got the largest LT contracts in NFL history
RT: Sebastian Vollmer
LG: Joe Thuney - Going to agree with the poster who said Logan Mankins comes up small in big games
RG: Shaq Mason - Note the contract BB gave him
C: David Andrews

Going with a 3-3-5/4-2-5 hybrid base

DL: Vince Wilfork/Richard Seymour/Chandler Jones - Wilfork and Seymour are beyond question. Honorable mention to Trey Flowers
DL/LB: Willie McGinest
LB: /Dont'a Hightower/Jamie Collins - You have to have peak Collins.
S: Rodney Harrison/Devin McCourty - Would pair nicely. Harrison is basically a better Chung
CB: Ty Law/Aqib Talib/Stephon Gilmore

Not sure he makes the final cut, but Brian Waters has to be on the 90 man. He’s close to making the roster as well.

One great year with us, but pretty fantastic career.

I prefer a 2000s and 2010s. The only “swing” players besides Brady are Wilfork and Mankins, and maybe Welker.

Let's try to Pats Picker this with a 53-man roster.

Offense (24)

QB: T. Brady, M. Cassel
RB: C. Dillon, K. Faulk, J. White, D. Lewis, A. Smith
FB: J. Develin
TE: R. Gronkowsk, B. Watson
LT: M. Light, N. Solder
LG: L. Mankins, J. Thuney
C: D. Koppen, D. Woody
RG: S. Mason, S. Neal
RT: S. Vollmer
X: R. Moss, D. Branch
Slot: T. Brown, W. Welker
SE: J. Edelman

Defense (23)
DE: W. McGinest, C. Jones
DT: V. Wilfork, T. Washington
DE: R. Seymour, T. Warren
OLB: M. Vrabel, K. Van Noy
ILB: T. Bruschi
ILB: D. Hightower, J. Mayo
OLB: R. Ninkovich, R. Colvin
CB: S. Gilmore, L. Ryan
FS: D. McCourty, E. Wilson
SS: R. Harrison, L. Milloy, P. Chung
CB: T. Law, M. Butler
Nickel: O. Smith

Special Teams (6)
PK: A. Vinatieri
P: R. Allen
LS: Lonnie Paxton
Primary Special Teamers: M. Slater, L. Izzo, M. Chatham

Toughest Decisions:
Going with only 2 QBs. I weep for Jimmy G.
The cuts you have to make for 3rd Down Back. Vereen and Woodhead, an embarrassment of riches to choose from.
FB: Develin or Heath Evans or Marc Edwards?
RB: I put in A. Smith as the short yardage back over Blount & Ridley, who did have a fairly good peak season. D. Lewis as the ultimate change of pace back.
OL: D. Woody over M. Cannon. Realistically, they'd carry only one swing tackle and have depth at center. Cannon has contributed more than Woody did in the Belichick overlap, but we need a backup C more than a 2nd Swing Tackle. Mankins on the world's shortest leash at LG. The moment he gets a boo-boo Thuney's in.
WR: No Amendola!
LB: J. Seau. Also should T. Flowers be there over R. Colvin? Collins?
CB: I kept role players L. Ryan and O-T-I-S over short-time stars Revis and Talib. We're building a team, not collecting talent. Asante should probably be on there due to resume, but I harbor a grudge from the Super Bowl drop.
S: Duron Harmon was a tough cut.
Special Teams: Kicker could go either way. Punter no one's really head and shoulders above. I'll take Paxton over Cardona because snow angels. I gave Bill three Special Teams coverage guys, but you know he'll want more.

Vollmer > Cannon at RT

Edelman's one of my favorite Patriots of all time, but I have to leave him out... And oh my, I'm leaving out Wilfork too? Crazy.

Brady
Dillon
Gronk
Hernandez
Moss
Branch
Light, Neal, Woody, Mason, Vollmer

Seymour, Trey Flowers, Washington
Bruschi, Vrabel, McGinest, Hightower
Law, Gilmore, Harrison, McCourty

ST: Slater
K: Vinatieri
Returner: woohoo, snuck Edelman back onto the team
