We'll stop here. We haven't agreed on anything and I don't see a need to continue to debate.
Lol we can agree on that at least.
Agree with everything but the omission of QB as a draft need. BB needs to upgrade the veteran backup QB and draft a QB with potential to grow into the job. I'd like to see a trade for Jacoby Brissett.
Throughout his time in Foxborough, Bill has never consistently attempted to address the WR position with top-100 draft picks, or in some years with any draft picks.
And on those occasions when he has, the results have been inarguably below-average.
I am intellectually lazy and part of the most entitled fanbase in football so I demand my superstars..
Also, preferably only through the draft. FA and trades are for losers.
Who’s demanding superstars? I’m hoping for contributors at this point since we can’t even get starters when we draft receivers. It’s all well and good to sign free agents to fill in but at some point you need to hit in the draft and have young cheap guys. Otherwise you end up where we are at now, going into the 2019 season with what will likely be an entirely new receiving core outside of Edelman.
Yeah you end up where we are fielding a top 5 offense since 2010. WR have been an afterthought in the draft for years now because you have to look at the overall unit and not just one position.
I don’t have to look at the overall unit. I’m looking at receiver and the lack of success we’ve had there. I love the reasoning that “we don’t draft a lot of receivers so it’s not important” one could make the argument that if you’re not going to draft many of them early then you need to hit on them even more. We have drafted 6 receivers in the top 3 rounds since Bill showed up. Only Deion Branch made an impact, I don’t know how anyone can argue that’s acceptable.
Here is your answer at to why Bill can't draft WR's. If you put the film on of both Chris Hogan and Keenan Allen, does he see the same player? He might.....
“After some general draft conversation, Dimitroff and Belichick get into the specifics of the Falcons-Browns trade,” Holley writes.
“‘Thomas, I’m just telling you as a friend,’ Belichick says, ‘I wouldn’t do it.’
“Belichick has a couple good reasons for his analysis and he’s willing to share. He often says that the primary job of a receiver is to simply get open and catch the ball, and he doesn’t like what he sees from Jones in either department. He thinks the receiver struggles to get open on intermediate routes, doesn’t play as fast as his superb timed speed suggests, and too often displays inconsistent hands. There’s also the issue of value. When Belichick began studying the 2011 draft, he saw great depth at the receiver position. Why go all-out for someone like Jones when you can likely have a Jonathan Baldwin, who, as far as Belichick can see, is just as good if not better than Jones? If Belichick wanted even more insight on Jones, he could always ask the receiver’s head coach, Nick Saban, the two-time national championship winner who was Belichick’s first defensive coordinator in Cleveland. But Belichick had seen enough on his own without going to Saban for an additional report.”
Why Bill Belichick told the Falcons NOT to draft WR Julio Jones
I think most people have been trained to show a level of respect.. "well it's the Patriots so you can't count them out". But I think the masses are overlooking the capabilities of this unit. I think they peak at perfect time and go on a big run.
Lol Bill thinking Johnathan Baldwin is as good as Julio that doesn’t exactly make me feel better.
Johnathan Baldwin career stats
Receptioons - 44
Yards - 607
Touch downs - 2
Yep....same player Bill
As much as playing the underdog would be a welcome change and an effective motivational tactic, the Patriots are still favored +4, and were +6 earlier in the week. The Pats aren’t being written off.
Ugh, you can learn how to run routes. You can't learn speed, size and athleticism.
I don't remember Julio's hands ever being an issue. Was that an issue?
Lol I’m a pats fan! I disagree with almost everything.
So, while your guys argument is entertaining. I disagree with both of you.
Example: someone says anyone is good
I say they are horrible
The same thing occurred when a radio station banned "Baby It's Cold Outside" from it's Christmas songs.
Let’s be real no one truly writes us off. Lol.
But but Rob Parker said...
There are a lot of experts picking the Chargers though. I hear them say Chargers, but it is more like they are picking with their heart - while their head is telling them ..... Pats.
