Theory: Cassel deal is not finished, just in phase one

None of us should believe anything different, now. However, hope ussually springs eternal. When I first heard this deal,my initial thought was that's stange, something else is in the works. Then you think about cassel's 14mil tag number, and the fact that they would try to sign him for less. Well then the secondrounder maes sense, with the Vrabel throw in. It's leverage. "gee Matt we were only able to get a second rounder for you, not only that they had to throw in Vrabel".
Then once he's signed up, draftday rolls around. BB picks up the phone on day 2. Wink, wink, nudge,nudge, out rolls Tony G.

My only problem with the trade is that if Vrabel and Cassel were worth a 2nd Round pick, what was Cassel's real worth? I guess we will never know.

Other than that, I'm fine with it and we get the 2 the BEST college players in the top 34 for the draft class - Unless Bill loses his marbles, that's gonna be dangerous for the rest of the NFL.

Once Pioli went to KC, I sort of figure, now we'll find out what they really thought of Cassel. But a 2nd and Vrabel to a guy with inside info. He either overpaid or there is more coming. I'm leaning towards the ladder. then again you have to factor in free agency. What's it worth to have money at your disposile. Maybe, unloading him sooner rather than later was always the plan and Pioli knew it going in. At the least it shows you, Cassel was'nt puttin' that uni on again.
