Brady and Edleman are having fun with this. Could be nothing more than that.
They are not goofy Gronk.

...and what would his motivation to do so be?Tom could end this noise very fast.
If he's annoyed by the noise surrounding his decision he simply could say my first hope and option is to finish this in New England....and what would his motivation to do so be?
Clearly he's neither. The noise keeps he and his brand in the news cycle and only helps his leverage with the NEP and other teams. If he's annoyed by the noise surrounding his decision he simply could say my first hope and option is to finish this in New England.
Or he could say he's ready for a new challenge.
Yup. And how would he end it quickly if the team either isn’t offering him a contract or the contract is unacceptable?...and what would his motivation to do so be?
Similar to his sentiments regarding Bledsoe.Speaking to Peter King about the deal, Kraft said he “[Wanted] to do something elegant that would work for everybody. I had been talking to him off and on for maybe 18 months, about how I wanted him to finish his career here, and about how we both have to be smart about it. I just really want him to end his career a Patriot.”

BLEDSOE'S RECORD DEAL: 10 YEARS, $103 MILLIONIt was 2000, but I get your point.
That’s strange. Multiple posters on here have stated they’re certain he’s leaving and certain he’s staying.
I’ve thought this the entire time. I don’t even think a phone call took place between BB and TB.Tom Brady sends message, "nobody knows anything".

Wow! I thought it was signed after the ‘99 season. The contract seemed bizarre given Bledsoe was trending in the wrong direction. The 2000 was brutal.BLEDSOE'S RECORD DEAL: 10 YEARS, $103 MILLION

With Greater Boston besieged by swirling winds and heavy snow, hundreds of flights into Logan Airport were canceled or diverted earlier this week. But not Drew Bledsoe's, which left Montana on Tuesday morning and arrived at 10:30 Tuesday night. Nor that of his agent, David Dunn, who took the Monday night red-eye from Los Angeles and arrived Tuesday morning.
And so, 2 1/2 hours of negotiating Tuesday wrapped up a process that took months. The Patriots held a press conference Wednesday to announce Bledsoe's $103 million, 10-year deal, the richest in NFL history, eclipsing the $100 million, 10-year deal Brett Favre just signed with the Packers.
Don't we root for the team, though? I mean, fandom is weird...it's this tribal thing, usually hardwired into us as kids, where our team is the good guys and the other teams are the bad guys. It's fun. This isn't a rumor. This is just me. I am deeply depressed at the thought of Tom Brady going somewhere else to play. I am mad at the Pats and BB for sticking to their proverbial guns at all "costs" and not making an exception for Brady, who is a once-in-a-lifetime player who deserves once-in-a-lifetime treatment. They should have given him the two year deal he wanted last year, and they should give it to him this year (if he'll even take it at this point), and stop ****ing around. The guy had just won the Super Bowl last year and they wouldn't re-up him for two years? C'mon man! He's the best player to ever play the game, and Jared Stidham ain't no Patrick Mahomes. They are insane to let Brady go from all standpoints, including wins and losses, PR, and financial (loyalty and rewarding a stellar player who has given you everything you could hope for for the last 20 years should also count for something, but they don't, because this is a "business"). It's a financial struggle for me to renew my season tickets, but I have never seriously thought of letting them go. Until now. If they don't re-sign him I told my husband I don't think I want to renew. It's not just me. As my 87 year old Dad said, if they don't have Brady, "it will ruin everything." Have you looked at or listened to Brady this offseason? He looks as miserable as I feel. Come to think of it, he looked pretty miserable all of last year too. I wonder if the Brady ship has already sailed, thanks to BB and the Pats treating him like he is "just like any other player."
For me this is like the Freddie Lynn debacle. When I was a young kid I was a huge Red Sox fan and my favorite player was Freddie Lynn, handsome outfielder who ran headlong into the green monster to always make the play. Then this new thing called free agency happened, and Freddie decided to be a test case. He left for the Angels and I couldn't even look at the Red Sox for about 20 years.
After his stubborn "my way or the highway" Malcolm Butler crap-out in the Super Bowl, I don't trust BB to do the right thing here (he already did the wrong thing last year). God I hope I'm wrong. Do the right thing BB. Don't ruin everything.
And do the right thing Tom. Don't run off to some other team for your last one or two years in the NFL, being some other team's PR coup. Stay here with the fans who love you and want to see you retire in a Pats uniform, having capped off your incredible career always in one uniform. I couldn't bear to see one of those full page ads in the Globe from you thanking the fans for their support, unless it's to say that you are retiring (which will still make me cry).
This is another curran article to fill the pages. This one is inspired from a question rich eisen asked last week if kraft will intercede. He replied the same thing he wrote.
