In some ways. I tend to believe the non Brady side.

The NFL has decided to make things a bit more interesting.

The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to extend the franchise/transition tag deadline to 11:59:59 a.m. ET on Monday, March 16, according to multiple reports. Adam Schefter of ESPN was first with the news.

This deadline extension also sets up what will be a wild couple of days on the NFL calendar. One second after the the league's franchise deadline passes is the start of the legal tampering period.

NFL extends deadline for teams to utilize the franchise and transition tags

So here are the new key dates and times:

  • Saturday, March 14 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET: Deadline for players to vote on the proposed CBA
  • Monday, March 16 at 11:59:59 a.m. ET: Franchise/transition tag deadline
  • Monday, March 16 at 12 p.m. ET: Legal tampering period opens
  • Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m. ET: New league year begins and free agency opens.

I don't give a mouse's ass what happens ...

Got there a while ago. All the fawning over a 43 year old former MVP who needs more and more time off each season got tiresome. He shouldn’t have anywhere near as much airtime as he has gotten.

It is interesting to see which team will commit a colossal mistake in signing TB other than the Pats.

You definitely care. You just don’t want Brady back.

Oh he can come back at a 43 year old price. Say 15 a year plus the dead money sounds fair to me. Not 20 or 25 or 30. It will end at some point if this is it so be it.

Can’t wait however to go on Team X’s forum when he misses camp days or practices and isn’t on the same page as his WR’s again. And how not having a Jules or Gronk will highlight is age. Those young gun WRs may think it is all awesome to work with TB, until it is time to actually do it.

I don't know about that. He probably has one year left...he's been trying to build a brand, and I don't imagine he'll be very popular outside of the region. I think it's best for him long term to be a lifetime Patriot.
What exactly is his “brand” other than copying “TB12” with “JE11”?

He’ll be irrelevant without TB.

I said before what if nobody wants him and he retires?

You gotta wonder...if he receives a bunch of low-ball offers, what does he do?
Wouldn’t shock me if nobody wants a 43 years old QB. In addition, he requires what is becoming an archaic style offensive. I also don’t think WR’s/TE’s want to learn to be clairvoyant’s.

Isn’t that the point? What team is going to offer a 43 year old massive money? My guess is the Pats move on easier and more successfully than Brady does. Just a hunch.

A team desperate to fill a stadium in a new location?

A lot of risk there as well. He needs to be on the field and performing as Tom F-ing Brady and doubt that is what they will be getting. Maybe weeks 1-5 but after that watch out.

I think there's going to be interest at the right price, but nowhere near the ridiculous numbers some of these guys are throwing around.

I can't wrap my head around why he'd leave to begin with. He's crabby old Dan Marino when guys run the wrong route. He doesn't go to OTAs and doesn't have his core guys up to Montana to work in the off season. So now he's going to go a new team, with a new staff, a new system, and new receivers, get on the same page in one camp and be better than he was here in 2019?

Ok.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the joy has left the game for him and he doesn't know it? He's hanging on too long, trying to recapture that magic once more? Mentally sharp and feels physically like he can do it?

I think it was Parcells that said in the end, the losses hurt worse and the wins don't feel as good. Maybe? Maybe that's where Tom is and hasn't figured that out. Who the hell knows.

Man, it is as if the NFLPA and the NFL are trying to jam things through with a sense of urgency. I think the next round of TV deals is what is pushing everything.....

These points are why he may not have a choice and either return or retire. However, would not shock me if Harry and Myers both want him gone as they can start with a clean slate learning the offense with the next QB. Kind of like when Brady was still learning with Deion Branch, David Givens, Daniel Graham and Ben Watson.
