The Official Patriots vs. Panthers Post Game Thread

Tough team, good game, they just didn't pull it out at the end. This team has been a work in progress all season, especially with all of the losses of key players. 12-4 is a good outcome and should give them the 2nd seed in the play-offs. If they progress the same way they usually do they should be peaking at the right time and make a really strong play-off run. That's what I'm looking for and counting on. We'll see? Overall it has been an exciting season and i expect the rest will be no different. Anyone expecting perfection should go find another team and sport to follow because you won't be getting it here anytime soon.

I still don't see how a ball is "uncatchable" when a defensive player catches the ball.

I was under the impression that "uncatchable" meant "uncatchable by anyone on the field" not "uncatchable by the intended receiver alone".

It's whatever the refs want it to mean.

Last night marked the first time all year that the Patriots rushed for 100 or more yards as a team and lost. Now 5-1 on the year.

Fun fact: Prior to the TD, Arrington had given up 1 catch for -1 yards. I think a big mistake too many fans make is letting a very low percentage of snaps control a large part of their opinion about a player. This is a good example.

Aren't the Pats 7-3?

The good news is....we're close , we really are close. We are close to getting those close wins. I was impressed with 85 last night, great second half and I am pulling for that kid big time.

As TFB says we need the mental toughness to make the plays in the big situations to win games, because we are close.

I think as a fan I am going to put this one to bed, should be a fun week here this week with that crazy offense coming in. At least we don't have to wait two weeks this time.

First, and foremost, it was Charles Johnson not Thomas Davis that Cannon was involved with. Secondly, only that moron Gruden called it a leg whip. Everyone else called it what it was. Cannon rolling back to his left and ending up on Johnson's leg.

Telling others they are "acting like a bunch of babies" when you can't even get the name of the opposing player and what really happened correct cuts into your credibility.

So suddenly you have a ton of credibility now that you pointed out that Talib missed the entire 4th quarter when in reality he left the 4th with 5 mins to go?

I got the guy's name wrong but it doesn't take away from my main point that it should have been flagged. :bricks:

Some of you are acting like a bunch of babies, the team deserved to lose just like the jets and bengals games. Yeah the non-call at the end was bad, but so was the non-call on cannon's leg whip of davis.

What an interesting notion. The Patriots, who might well have won the game if the officials hadn't blown the call on the final, and deciding, play of the game, somehow deserved to lose.

That's a fascinating mindset, because it defies all logic and common sense. It essentially requires you to think that the officials did the right thing by blowing the call.

12-4 would be nice but I envision us at 11-5. Most importantly I want to avoid the dreaded #4 seed.

I doubt they end up in the 4 seed but wouldn't worry about it too much. They should beat anyone who comes to Foxboro in the play-offs and if they don't they aren't SB caliber team anyways. Despite the loss I came away feeling good about this team, they handled their front 7 pretty well, rushed effectively, and spread the ball around better than they had all season. The were missing 3/4 of their secondary on the Panthers final drive and should have most of them back this week. I am really only interested in how they develop from here on out as we know that the play-offs are a whole new season and regular season won't matter one bit when they roll around. I have a good deal of confidence in this team and love the idea of them playing with a chip on their shoulder and knowing they are going to have to put team's away to keep moving on. I will stick with 12-4, #2 seed, and think they have a really good shot at making the Bowl, and nothing would be sweeter than winning NY's only Super Bowl.

Reiss just posted the defensive snaps, impressive to see players like Hightower, Jones and Ninkovich play every down shows they do a great job keeping themselves conditioned, Chris Jones also continues to stand out this young man has played 359/371 snaps over the past 5 games which is nearly 97% that is incredible for a defensive tackle.

Flipside it is disappointing to see Jamie Collins falling further and further behind Fletcher.

• LB Dont'a Hightower – 58 of 58
• DE Chandler Jones – 58 of 58
• S Devin McCourty – 58 of 58
• DE Rob Ninkovich – 58 of 58
• DT Chris Jones – 54 of 58
• CB Kyle Arrington – 50 of 58
• S Duron Harmon – 47 of 58
• LB Brandon Spikes – 45 of 58
• CB Aqib Talib – 45 of 58
• DT Joe Vellano – 42 of 58
• DT Isaac Sopoaga – 40 of 58
• CB Logan Ryan – 33 of 58
• DE Andre Carter – 19 of 58
• LB Dane Fletcher – 14 of 58
• CB Marquice Cole – 12 of 58
• S Nate Ebner – 3 of 58
• LB Jamie Collins – 2 of 58

I am Still Sick to My Stomach...

Anyone else have this feeling? I can't eat, can't stop thinking about the loss. I usually don't feel like this during a regular season Loss.. Only playoffs

Anyone else feel like this?

Even worse

Only diehard Pats zealots would seriously maintain that Car didn't outplay the Pats. Take off the blinders!!! Calls happen. Play better.

@GlobeBobRyan Now you're just trolling, Bob. You're better than that. So if on that play Brady connects with Gronk, are you saying this?

Everyone see where the panthers rank now in everyones so called power rankings? like 5th. That team can't be the 5th best team in the NFL....Their D wasn't that good and their running game outside of newton was nowhere to be found

Well to be fair, the NFL is pretty putrid in 2013. There's like 2 good teams in each conference and then a few ok teams and then a lot of crap.

What does Bob Ryan know? He has no insight, so all he does is attack the fans who thought we got robbed on a bad call as being zealots. Nothing special about this jerkoff and his opinion.

I thought it was a fairly even, well fought game decided by a couple of poor officiating decisions and one team making one more play than the other.

The way I see it, the winning team always outplays the losing team. No exceptions.

But I'm with your guys, the way the panthers fans were hyping that D-line up. I was expecting jets-like run D. It was nothing close to that considering the Jets D shut our run game down.

in related news, earlier tonight, Boston EMT's were called to Bob Ryan's home for a medical emergency...in a curious twist, they took a sample from his red veined, bulb nose and found his alcohol contained 2% blood!
