For those of you scoring at home, Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston that newly signed defensive back Brandon Browner will wear #39 when he takes the field with his new team in the coming months.
Browner wore the same number with his previous team, the Seattle Seahawks, and didn't have to fight anyone here in New England to claim it. Reiss points out that the last player to wear that number was practice squad player Sam McGuffie, with the fomer running back from Rice University having been part of roster cuts back in March.
The veteran was reportedly one of many players who were on hand for the first day of voluntary workouts at Gillette Stadium.
