I expect at least one will be released (then signed to PS) so McCarron can return punts Sunday. Nothing settled at the end of the roster. We will probably add a 4th but unless they return punts I’d expect them to be inactive.

Oh. Yeah. You should watch the patriots play. Especially the Super Bowls. There was a good one a few years ago where White was a hero.
Why cut McCarron and expose him if you want him to return punts week 1.I expect at least one will be released (then signed to PS) so McCarron can return punts Sunday. Nothing settled at the end of the roster.
Because claims have to be addde to active roster. Needed slots. Why cut McCarron and expose him if you want him to return punts week 1.
I think Patterson or hogan will be returning punts.
McCarron isn’t a very good punt returner.

Such a monster talent that the Giants literally gave him away.
Probably just special teams. Bill O’Brien and Brad Seely in Houston would be aware that the Patriots’ ST guys were pretty locked in and that younger options would be released.Anyone know what the deal is with AJ Moore being claimed? I thought he'd be incredibly lucky to land on a practice squad somewhere. Have to think it was purely a scouting move
So you cut McCarron because if you claim a guy and get him you would have to cut McCarron?Because claims have to be addde to active roster. Needed slots.
I don't know the timing of when they cut McCarron in relation to the claims being released. I also don't know how long these preseason claims have to be on the roster. Either way, it is clear BB has some interest in McCarron, just not enough to avoid exposing him to waivers. WR simply the thinnest position group. But with the 2 waiver claims, you get a tryout and, if it works out, a few years of rookie contract to develop a player. I think the chances of this happening for both WRs are close to zero, and I still expect additional releases on Sat. Could be one of these guys, or could be someone else, as you say.So you cut McCarron because if you claim a guy and get him you would have to cut McCarron?
That makes no sense. You do not need a spot open to claim.
Follow the logic. If the only reason you cut McCarron was to add someone on a claim, there is no reason to cut mccarrron until you are awarded the player.
Cutting him is a useless move that exposes him to waivers.
If you want McCarron on the 53 then you wolf cut someone else after being awarded a player on waivers but there is no possible reason to cut McCarron if you want him in your 53. Nothing at all to gain and you risk losing him.
I was surprised to hear that Cre'Von LeBlanc was cut by the Bears. He cleared waivers and is now a member of Matty P’s Lions, on their practice squad. I wonder if the Pats reached out to him as well. I would have taken him back in a heartbeat over Jomal “Can’t Cover, Can’t Tackle” Wiltz.
Former Chicago Bears CB joining Detroit Lions practice squad
I have a feeling that - Dante's comments notwithstanding - no other OLman will be added to the 53 before Sunday, especially nobody from outside the building, unfortunately. If I were the Emperor, however, I would seriously consider adding UFAs Adam Bisnowaty and/or David Quessenberry to the PS if they have eligibility, if not to the 53 itself, as developmental LT/LG backups.Someone will need to be released/ IRed to add OL8 too.
