Ahh, this makes sense now. I still don't understand why we didn't draft Austin Pettis, because I think we have a big hole at backup holder. If Mesko goes down we could be in trouble.

I have an idea about making my first million dollars. In the future I will create a contest and charge anyone $75 to enter- all you have to do to win the pot is to correctly predict every single pick BB will make in the 2012 draft. I will limit this the first 14,000 entries.

Do you think this might be extremely unfair? Probably should be illegal.

I'm just too distgusted to hang out anymore. I had such high hopes for this draft. I thought that with the lack of talent and depth in this draft BB would use the picks to move up and get an impact player. Instead this draft is making the Merriweather draft look good!

Compares to: Derek Anderson, Cardinals -- No one questions Mallett's ability to throw a football; he's the most talented pure passer in this draft. But he's tall and lanky and lacks any real mobility. If protected by a strong offensive line, he could turn out to be more like Drew Bledsoe or Joe Flacco

No the pass rush sucked because there were no pass rushers and haven't been since the days of Colvin and Vrable

Chicken/egg.
You can't have a good pass rush if you can't cover, and you cover forever if you cant rush.
Lack of one makes the other look worse.

I just don't get it. Having 2-1sts and 2 2nds just doesn't get me pumped anymore. I have dropped my expectations of the Pats from now on. Gone are the SB expectations. An era has come and gone. Beating the Jets and winning the division will have to suffice. This sucks.

Best move of day #2 getting a 2nd rounder for next year. Ridley is a huge waste at the 3rd round.

Just so you know, I was hearing, even before the Vereen pick that the Pats really liked Stevan Ridley. There may have been doubts here about this pick, obviously those doubts weren't there in the Patriots war room. Off to watch a couple of LSU games and see what's what about him.

A gunner who runs a 4.66? Apparently they're ahead of the copycat league getting tape on the Connoly return. Wedgebusters run 4.66's.

He's being brought in to run goal line and short yardage. Ridley in ace personnel in third and short will be a nightmare for the DC's playcall.

We still have trades and Free Agency to go. In some respects, this year is uncharted territory (draft before trades and FA). One thing we are accomplishing is ensuring our offense doesn't grow old us (as our defense did).

Before everyone freaks out...say we get Manny Lawson or Kiwanuka in FA, like OTG suggested we do.

That would mean we get 3 starters on our D that weren't there in 2010: Warren, Lawson/Kiwanuka, and Bodden. Upgrade our FS with Dowling (and take out Meriweather) and our D is approaching elite again.

Now how does this draft look?
