Deus, the Patriots turned that pick that would have been Oher into Darius Butler, Brandon Tate, and a 2010 #2. That's a pretty good haul, don't you think?

I was hoping we'd take Oher at that point in the draft, but I like what we got instead.

Do you think the Pats might actually use all five remaining picks? [I can't really see why, since they'd essentially be drafting for other teams at that point.]

Boltus next?

Hey Box, welcome back...who do you like at this stage?
After finding myself on "don't call us we don't care" with all my attempts to reach Time-Warner and trying to get my news from NFL Network's nattering nitwits, I'm clueless as to who's even available. That said, if he's still around, I'd love to see SS Stephen Hodge of TCU become a Patriot in the waning moments of the draft - I still think of him as Rodney Junior after the game he had against Boise State in the Pointsettia Bowl.

Butler could have been gotten without making the Oher trade, which was my point yesterday. Nothing that happened with the defenders yesterday, pick-wise, required the Oher trade. The stuff going on today is where that comes into play. That falls under the "making up for" part, but Butler has nothing to do with it.

Belichick has been making up for not taking Oher by pushing 3rds into 2nds next year. Hobbs is going to Philly, the Patriots are adding patients to the M*A*S*H unit and the Eagles are having a great draft.
I heard Ryan Clady had a good year in Denver?

Re: Boltus—Unlikely. Division III players almost never get drafted by anyone. Not to say they're bad, just not drafted.

They can't trade 2 of them.

I have no problem with the defenders taken yesterday, and I have no problem with today's picks either.

Love to see them take Joel Bell at #170. If not Bear Pascoe.

There were two drafted last year and two drafted in 2007. Boltus is the best one and was at the Combine. He'll be drafted.

I'm hoping for Philip Hunt, Houston DE. I think he has the potential to be a very successful OLB conversion project.

He may actually go undrafted though, so we could pick him up as a free agent I guess.

Still, I'd be very happy if he was our 5th rounder.

3 of the 5 picks before us in the 5th are the Fins and the Steelers. It really blows drafting right after those teams.

Didn't say none, just rarely.

That said—what makes Boltus so good that he was invited to the Combine/should be drafted, when other DivIII passers (e.g., Brett Elliott, who set the NCAA passing record with 60+ TDs) haven't been?

Got the size and go on youtube and watch him throw. Great arm.
